Experience an unforgettable night on October 19th at the IAA Studio in Portland as Kaolack and Veeva come together for the final performance of Sankofa. Sankofa, a word from the Akan Tribe in Ghana, means "It is not taboo to go back for what you forgot." This performance, an expansion of Kaolack's MFA thesis work, aims to push boundaries and tell stories through dance. Supported by local dancers and Veeva Banga, a talented South Sudanese dancer, the performance promises to be a captivating experience. Join us at the Indigo Arts Alliance Studio at 6pm for this free event that is open to all. Kaolack, also known as Pape Ibrahima Ndiaye, has an impressive background in dance, having studied and performed with the Jant-bi company in Senegal and won the Danse l'Afrique Danse Choreographic competition. Veeva Banga, with her unique approach to Afro Beat dance, adds another layer of talent to the performance. The Indigo Arts Alliance is a Black-led, multiracial platform that encourages freedom of expression and personal transformation through creativity.
