Spooky Printmaking with the Crafty Hag is an exciting event taking place on October 24th at the Clark-Grace United Church of Christ in South Saint Paul. This free class offers an opportunity to learn the art of relief printing and create your own rubber stamps. The Crafty Hag, an experienced teacher, will guide participants step by step through the process of carving stamps and printing on cotton kitchen towels. This hands-on workshop, recommended for adults but also open to teens, will provide an introduction to linocut carving tools. No need to worry about drawing skills, as simple repeat designs are perfect for this session. Abstract, geometric patterns, monograms, or any symbol that resonates with you can be transformed into a 4 x 5 inch (or smaller) rubber stamp. If you prefer, you can combine several small stamps instead of creating one large one. All materials, including carving tools, will be provided, and each participant will have two towels to print on and take home. To ensure a comfortable experience, it is advised to wear clothes that can tolerate permanent fabric ink. Feel free to bring additional cotton items, such as t-shirts, for printing. Keep in mind that the ink will be wet, so plan accordingly for transportation. The class size is limited to 20 participants, and young people aged 12-16 should have an adult partner accompany them.
