The Bustan Rock Paintings are located in the Gobustan Mountain area of Azerbaijan and are a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site. In this rocky highland, there are more than 6,000 exquisite rock carvings. These carvings have smooth lines, allowing people to see rock art from 4,000 to 20,000 years ago. The earliest rock paintings can be traced back to 20,000 years ago, and the latest has a history of 5,000 years. The time span extends from the early Paleolithic Age to the Middle Ages. They are witnesses to the life, culture, and worldview of the ancient Azerbaijanis, and provide precious information for studying the historical changes and social development of the region from the Stone Age to the Middle Ages.

Azerbaijan means &quot;the country of fire&quot; in Persian, and has a profound fire culture. The Fire Temple, located on the outskirts of the capital Baku, was built in the 17th and 18th centuries by Persians or Indian immigrants who believed in Zoroastrianism and was originally used for sacrificial activities.
