Story & Verse: A Storytelling, Poetic, and Spoken Word Open Mic is an enchanting event held in the heart of Downtown Princeton. This monthly gathering is open to all ages, experience levels, and backgrounds, making it an inclusive and diverse platform for artists to shine. The Solley Theater, located in the Paul Robeson Center for the Arts, provides an intimate and welcoming space for both emerging and established performers to share their stories, poetry, and prose. The upcoming event, taking place on February 15, 2024, has the intriguing theme of "It's Not That Kind of Party." Performers are invited to prepare a story, poem, or spoken word piece up to 5 minutes in length, loosely related to the theme. Simply arrive by 6:45pm to add your name to the hat – no previous experience or pre-registration is necessary. As an added bonus, your performance can be recorded and uploaded to the Arts Council's YouTube channel and social media platforms. If you prefer to be part of the audience, you can still participate by engaging in a Micro Story. From the comfort of your seat, respond to a printed prompt based on the evening's theme with a super concise story of just a line or two. Brass Rabbit will have the honor of reading your story aloud, time permitting. Join us for an unforgettable night of storytelling, poetry, and spoken word at the Solley Theater.
