Details

English Touring Opera presents The Great Stink, a delightful family show set in Victorian London that explores the humorous side of a rather smelly subject matter – poo! In this hilarious new opera by Omar Shahryar and Hannah Khalil, audiences will be transported to a time when the city was plagued by the foul stench of sewage. Join us for a fun-filled experience as we bring this comical tale to life with a talented cast of singers, musicians, puppets, and interactive moments. Children will have the chance to meet historical figures such as Queen Victoria and Prime Minister Disraeli, as well as the iconic Thames River. Written by Hannah Khalil and composed by Omar Shahryar, The Great Stink is part of ETO's series of operas focused on climate change and the environment. This particular production sheds light on water pollution and the modern-day challenges of sewage disposal. Directed by Valentina Ceschi and designed by Sam Wilde, this brand-new opera promises to captivate audiences of all ages. Suitable for the whole family, this show is especially fantastic for children aged 7 to 11. Don't miss out on this unforgettable experience at Exeter Library in the charming city of Exeter. Doors open at 14:45, and tickets are priced at £10 or £5 for children under 12.
