The Third Annual Werewolf Chase is a free and thrilling fun run taking place in Downtown Fort Wayne. Participants have the opportunity to run, walk, or stroll through the beautiful Fort Wayne Trails network while attempting to outpace two intimidating werewolves. The event will kick off at 11:00 am from Fort Wayne Outfitters, conveniently located across the River from the picturesque Promenade Park. To add to the excitement, costumes are strongly encouraged, with fantastic prizes awarded to those with the most impressive outfits. The first-place male and female participants will each receive a $50 gift card from Fort Wayne Fleet Feet. Additionally, all finishers who manage to evade capture by the werewolves will be rewarded with a cool finisher medal. The chase aspect of the event involves participants wearing flag football belts provided by the dedicated Getting Miles volunteers. The friendly werewolves will attempt to snatch a flag from these belts before participants reach the finish line. Rest assured, these werewolves are not here to frighten anyone, especially the kids! At the finish line, volunteers will collect the belts from participants. A dedicated bicycle lead will guide the participants throughout the route. The run/walk will commence promptly at 11:00 am, followed by the release of the werewolf at 11:05 am. To make this event even more meaningful, the UAW Local 2209 Community Services Committee will be collecting non-perishable food donations for the local Associated Churches Food Bank. The Third Annual Werewolf Chase is open to all participants, regardless of age or ability. Utilize your smartphone's fitness app or fitness tracking device to record your time and share your adventurous experience on social media. Those interested in purchasing event T-shirts can do so during registration until Friday, October 7th. T-shirts can be picked up at check-in on the day of the race. Please note that participants who have not completed a waiver during registration will be required to sign a liability waiver on-site before participating in the event. Completing and sharing three out of the four events of the Getting Miles Fun Run Series will earn you a unique finisher medal after the last event. The route for each event will be available on the STRAVA fitness app the day before the event and will also be posted on the race day. Clean out your kitchen cupboards and bring non-perishable food donations to support the UAW Local 2209 Community Service Committee in their efforts to help local families in need through the Associated Churches Food Bank.
