Join artist, educator, and curator Rebecca Beinart for an engaging workshop at Two Queens Leicester on February 3, 2024. This workshop, titled "Living material: mycelium moulds," offers a unique opportunity to explore the fascinating world of living and biodegradable materials. Rebecca Beinart will guide participants through an introduction to working with mycelium, the intricate underground network of fungi, and demonstrate how to grow sculptural forms into moulds. Throughout the session, participants will learn about the different stages of this process and gain insights into working with various species and substrate materials. Rebecca Beinart's extensive research into more-than-human relationships, medical histories, and porous bodies has led her to focus on fungi over the past year. By collaborating with other organisms, this workshop creates a space for experimentation and discussion on the potential of regenerative materials in the art-making process. Rebecca Beinart, based in Nottingham, is known for her research-based, collaborative, and site-based projects. Her work reflects on collective histories and futures, social and environmental justice, knowledge-making, and the politics of public space.
