Details

Join Arthrive at Indy Reads in Indianapolis on November 18th for a Workshop: Hands-on Community Art. This all-ages event, taking place from 12pm to 6pm, will give participants the opportunity to engage in a hands-on printmaking workshop. Arthrive has developed a new community art kit that can be easily transported and transformed into a portable tabletop printmaking studio. The collaborative nature of the printing process requires two people to create a print, resulting in unique rainbow-rolled prints that will be shared both at the studio event and in public spaces throughout the community. These prints will become part of a public art archive, and individuals are encouraged to return them to public spaces. Erin Harper Vernon, the founder of Arthrive, is an artist and educator who prioritizes volunteerism and community-centered art. After many years of teaching in higher education, she shifted her focus to creating a tangible impact in her immediate neighborhood. With a background in design, photography, printmaking, and film, Vernon seeks to connect people through collaboration and promote post-traumatic growth through art-making. By integrating art into the social fabric of a community, she aims to foster empathy and cultural connection. The Workshop: Hands-on Community Art event is Pay-What-You-Can, allowing attendees to contribute what they are able to. Donations support the Indy Reads community, and various suggested donation amounts are provided to give attendees an idea of how their contribution can make a difference. The event is open to all, as Indy Reads values inclusivity and accessibility in their programming. Join Arthrive and Indy Reads for this enriching community art workshop.
