Chengdu is the sub-provincial capital city of Sichuan, a Chinese province. The city is also known as Chengtu is one of the three most populous Western China cities. Though the city doesn’t have many attractions, ambiance and natural beauty attract a lot of tourists to it every year. Chengdu is also a foodie’s paradise and has been given the title of “Gourmet Capital of the World” by UNESCO.  

Tip: Chengdu experiences mild and humid temperatures throughout the year. To visit in pleasant weather, the best months are from March to June and September to November.

Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport (CTU) is the airport serving Chengdu is also known as Chengdu airport. The airport is located approximately 16 km from the Chengdu downtown and 2 km from Shuangliu country. The Chengdu Airport was built in 1938 and is the largest airport in southwest China. Several airways and airlines have daily flights from Beijing to Chengdu. Direct flights to Chengdu are by Air China Airlines. Take the high-speed train to Dujiangyan City to see the famous sights- Dujiangyan and Mount Qingcheng. Mount Qingcheng is known as one of the birthplaces of Taoism. The beautiful mountain also has many historical temples and sites around it. Learn about the ancient water conservation system of China at the Dujiangyan Irrigation System. 

Tip: Visit the Jinli Old Street to explore the local culture and enjoy the unique face-changing show in Bian Lian-a Sichuan opera.

Shopping in Chengdu:

Chengdu is known for many other things apart from giant pandas. The city is famous for Shu brocade fabrics, embroidered clothes, lacquer wares, bamboo products, and silver inlaid products. Chunxi Road, Luomashi area and Zongfu road have many shopping centers and street stalls that sell everything from clothes to souvenirs. Chunxi Road is the main shopping area with the best shopping centers, boutiques, and cafes in the city. The Yanshikou commercial circle is also good for shopping with many prominent departmental stores and shops. 
 
Tip: Visit Shudu Avenue to shop for local food delicacies such as preserved ham and alcoholic beverages.
