Stayed here for 1 night on 1st October 2024 after our drive to Highlands and got here when it was already dark but i loved the drive to the junction from the main road to the guesthouse.
It was pretty dark around the area which we thought we could be lucky for aurora sightings but it was cloudy. Luckily, I asked the owner when was the last aurora sighting at the guesthouse and she immediately opened her laptop and that’s when I found put there’s aurora forecast website in Iceland. She was the one that let us know there’s higher chance to spot aurora on the upcoming friday due to clear sky.
Oh btw, for our check-in process, when I first arrived and entered the guesthouse, please take off your shoes by the entrance, and go to reception area infront of the kitchen and take the house phone to call the owner.
We booked room no. 5 which cones with a sofa bed and the long toom was so cute and cozy. This is the cutest guesthouse room design among all 13 accoms across the country during our trip. I really loved it a lot as the room was long and spacious.
The common dining area was really nice and big which I didn’t really spend time here. But I used the kitchen the next morning to boil hot water and make myself my hot chocolate and instant mushroom soup.
Worth my money. Will book again if I visit Iceland again next time!

PPottspostWe had a fantastic stay at North Star Cottages. The cottage was clean and well appointed. We arrived to a warm, snug cabin after a day of walking in the rain, and it had everything we needed for a short one night stay. We were a family of four and we brought food to prepare. The kitchen had everything to cook, eat, and wash up. Beds were comfy and the shower was hot. Really great place.

The accommodation was spacious, especially the bathroom, which had a countertop, which was useful for spreading all my cosmetics out!
The place itself isn't a tourist destination, but it was very handy. There was supermarket nearby and petrol station and not far from the main road.
Handy for the Flo nature reserve if you're into birdwatching. The coastline there is impressive. Big waves
Or handy if you want to visit Reykjavik, which we did for the evening. (45 minute drive?).
I didn't score so highly on service because there isn't any service as such. There were also no additional facilities other than the room and ensuite, which was fine. Parking is out the front and was plentiful.
We stayed in mid-May and it was fortunately very quiet. We did arrive early, and were pleased to be allowed in to our rooms, so really appreciated that. Thanks!

GGuest UserIt's great that it comes with a private shower room for this price. There's a coffee maker with a wide variety of drinks, including lattes and chocolate lattes. Yogurt and cereal are also available, which is helpful. It's convenient that you can use the dishwasher. The owner even cleaned it out himself, which was kind. It would be better if the shower room had containers for shampoo and body wash.

GGuest UserThis is a particularly wonderful experience. The whole hostel is like a student dormitory, with a public lobby and a public kitchen. It is amazing that you can find everything you need here. The landlord is very meticulous. The travelers are friendly and help each other. The next morning, the director and his family arrived early and prepared coffee and waffles for us. It was a particularly warm and magical experience. We will recommend it to more friends.

OOlgaWe stayed in this cabin for a one night and were very impressed by how comfortable and well equipped it was. The kitchenette had a microwave and a kettle to prepare simple meals, and the bathroom was modern and spotless. The floor heating created a cozy atmosphere, especially in the mornings. The location is perfect—just a short walk to the sea, where the fresh air and views are breathtaking. One of the highlights was the many sheep grazing nearby, which gave the area a peaceful, countryside charm. It’s an ideal place to relax and recharge, highly recommended!

The kitchen was fully equipped, making it convenient for longer stays, and the living area felt bright and welcoming. The location was excellent, close to Hella with shops, restaurants, and public transport, yet still quiet and peaceful at night. The building felt safe and secure, and the management was responsive and helpful throughout my stay. Overall, we would highly recommend this apartment for anyone looking for comfort, convenience, and great value.
