Homestays in Luang Namtha, Laos

Whenever I visit Boten, this is my go-to place. The rooms are clean and spacious. As a foreigner who doesn't speak Chinese, I communicated with them using Messenger for translation, and they were very responsive and friendly.

The hotel was very clean and the owners are very nice. For example, I had mistakenly left some belongings on a bus the previous day and wasn't able to speak very good Lao to explain at the bus station. After I messaged one of the owners of the hotel on WhatsApp, he went out of his way to drive me to the bus station the next morning, explain my situation to them, and help me successfully get my belongings back. Both owners were extremely kind and hospitable, and I would highly recommend this hotel.

Zuela Guesthouse is located at the very center of the small town of Luang Namtha. It’s right opposite to the Night Market which is great for a late night dinner after a long trek. Around the guesthouse are also all the major tour agencies with whom you can book tours. The place itself is nice, with traditional wooden architecture and nice bedrooms. Operating staff is very young and a bit inexperienced, so it can take a bit longer to get things through, but not a major issue to enjoy the stay. Breakfast has 4 different choices, each one is good. Beds are relatively comfortable but could use an upgrade in terms of mattresses and insulating rooms from outside. Big plus, they offer mountain bikes, scooters as well as dirt bikes for rent! Overall a very nice stay keeping in mind the location and the very limited options around.

It's the most comfortable and friendly hotel in northern Laos. I'll sleep again on my next visit to Luang Namta.

I was so grateful that the owner picked me up and dropped me off, and it was safe. The elevator was also convenient, and the view from the room was great. There's a fruit shop and restaurant just a three-minute walk away, and a convenience store within a five-minute walk. I couldn't have a drink alone, but it's a great place to have a drink with friends or colleagues. Chinese, Chinese currency, and WeChat are all accepted. Also, places run by Chinese people are more reliable and cheaper. If I ever go to Laos by land again, I'll definitely stay here. The building is old, but the facilities are fine. The water runs well.
