Hostels in Canton of Valais, Switzerland

My husband and I have been married for almost 40 years, and we chose to do a self-guided tour of Switzerland. The two of us struggled with our suitcases, lugging them up the steps to this youth hostel. To our surprise, the front desk staff spoke Chinese, which made check-in very convenient. We had a private room for two, but it had bunk beds. The shared bathroom was quite clean. From our room window, we had a direct view of the Matterhorn, and the scenery was absolutely stunning and well worth it. Breakfast was a typical European buffet, which was decent. One peculiar observation, regardless of the language spoken, was seeing many guests casually taking eggs, fruit, and bread with them. This is probably a common characteristic of youth hostels, and there's nothing wrong with it. This hotel is highly recommended for young people; it offers incredible value for money.

I used to stay at a domestic youth hostel for more than 400 nights as a hostel, but the hotel I stayed at this time was an accommodation for Swiss youth hostel association members. In principle, it is self-service, but I did not feel particularly dissatisfied, and it was evaluated as wonderful among the facilities I have stayed so far as the above evaluation. This time, I didn't use the swimming pool, wellness, sauna, etc. for convenience, but I was able to spend a fun 2 days.

Breakfast is awesome and the lady in charge is very kind too. The room is bright and clean. But the weather is very hot. And there is no air conditioning nor fan to cool us down. So it’s really hot to sleep the night through……

The location is very good, the surrounding environment is good, can go out for a walk.

The staff are very clean and charming.

The road was uphill, so it was difficult to pull heavy vehicles, but when I entered the room, I was very satisfied. The scenery outside the window is really beautiful, very close to the hot spring Alpentermer. It's a bit far from the rest, but I arrived in 15 minutes.

Good location to drive different mountain passes (grimsel/furka/tremola)
