SalajiangSalajiangThe best choice for an early morning flight to Kansai Airport! Even though OMO5 has newly opened in Rinku Town, I still exclusively love Hotel Nikko Kansai Airport! The rooms are spacious enough, and the bedding is comfortable. Especially the shower, the water pressure is strong and the water temperature is perfect, much better than most hotels! This time, I also happened to be there during Japan's Silver Week and tried the wagyu shabu-shabu on the 52nd floor, which was very satisfying!
Nearby, there's a large drug store (with an auntie from Shanghai working there), a large supermarket, and you can also visit the most beautiful seaside outlet in Kansai. It couldn't be any better!

If you have an early flight the next morning, staying here is incredibly convenient. You don't have to worry about traffic or time, and you can get a little extra sleep.
However, my overall experience was that the value for money wasn't great. The price of over 300 a night felt a bit high compared to the actual stay. The hotel was also a bit hard to find. I initially followed Google Maps, and the navigation showed a long detour. I ended up having to check Xiaohongshu (a Chinese social media platform) for directions to find the correct route. I'd recommend first-time visitors do some research beforehand.
The room was larger than I expected, and all the necessary facilities were provided. There was even a small lockable cabinet next to the bed for valuables like phones, wallets, and passports. For larger luggage, the front desk offers a locked luggage storage area, with each item individually secured, so security is quite good. The staff were also very friendly and enthusiastic when communicating, patiently helping with any issues.
That said, as soon as I entered the room, there was a strong, somewhat artificial scent, like the air fresheners often used in public restrooms or malls in China, or a heavy incense smell. I personally didn't like it, and after a while, it became a bit uncomfortable. Also, the duvet on the bed was quite thin, so if you tend to get cold easily, it might not be comfortable enough.
Overall, the main value of this hotel is its convenience for catching early flights. If you're just staying to catch a plane the next morning, I'd still recommend it. But for a regular leisure trip, I think the value for money for over 300 a night is just average, and the overall experience was fairly unremarkable.
SLLLLSLLLLIt was a 25-minute drive from the airport, and I only realized after arriving that it didn't have a hot spring. I purely didn't read the description carefully; when I booked, I saw the Japanese-style photos and assumed it would. The facilities are very basic. What I regret even more is that I added breakfast when checking in and was asked to pay immediately. I've never seen such a perfunctory meal; not only was the food simple, but it was also incredibly stale. Even the most basic rice seemed leftover from the day before, and the rice cooker was dirty. Their business practices felt very 'mainland Chinese' – they asked guests to post positive reviews online in exchange for a doll. In the end, even my child said it wasn't worth giving a good review and willingly gave up the doll.
I'd recommend this place to travelers looking for accommodation within a 30-minute drive, but if you want to relax and properly enjoy the first or last day of your trip, you should probably skip this one.

The location of Star Gate Kansai Airport Hotel is excellent. Our room on the 44th floor had an amazing view, and the hotel is within walking distance of Rinku Premium Outlets and Don Quijote. It’s also just one train stop from Kansai International Airport, which makes it very convenient for an airport stay. The hotel also provides a free shuttle to the airport, although the shuttle service is only available in the morning.
Unfortunately, the room and furniture are quite dated and show noticeable signs of wear and tear. The bed was okay, but the comforter did not look or feel as clean as I would have liked.
There was also a strange smell in the hallways, even though we were staying on a non-smoking floor, which was unpleasant.
Overall, the location, convenience, and views are the hotel’s biggest strengths. I would consider staying here again, especially for the location, but I would probably look at other hotels nearby first before booking.James Sze007James Sze007The location is excellent, right next to Hineno Station, which is very convenient. However, there aren't many entertainment options or restaurants nearby, except for Hineno Shokudo. This restaurant offers great value for money and has a wide variety of dishes. The hotel's breakfast, however, has limited choices, and by 8:45 AM, there was hardly anything left, not even bread, only sliced white bread. The sausages were unappetizing. The strangest thing was that when I asked for scrambled eggs after they ran out, the server brought out cold scrambled eggs – how is that even possible? The curry rice was also unpalatable. The room was extremely small; once a 28-inch suitcase was opened, there was no room to walk. The restaurant's ambiance was very nice, but it felt wasted!
