We have been loyal Marriott/Bonvoy patrons for years (Titanium level) but our experience at the Albuquerque Marriott Pyramid South left us cold. It was far below the standards we have come to expect from a Marriott chain hotel. Our check in process was anything but smooth due to insufficiently trained staff. Although we had booked two nights, one each in separate reservations, we were assured that the reservations were linked and we would keep our same room for the second night and our record was so annotated. Despite this assurance, we received a call while touring that we had to check out of our room for the first night. Our room, a one bedroom suite, had no complimentary water, was missing both glasses and plastic cups, had virtually no bathroom amenities, the bathroom had no vent plus the door was missing a stopper to prevent it from hitting the wall, a night stand lamp was missing its bulb and the room suffered from significant road noise, something that could have been moderated by using heavier window curtains. The Executive Lounge had one of the skimpiest assortments of snacks and did not offer any alcoholic beverages. The web site for the hotel did not permit on line check out (as confirmed by the manager Holly) and we were charged for a breakfast that should have been included based on our experience at other Marriotts and given our loyalty status. As owner/managers of a tour company for 27 years, we could neither recommend this hotel nor would we stay there again until a management change can address these shortcomings. The only positive was the service of the wait staff at the breakfast/dining area (albeit a very limited dining menu) which was very good.
