Did not know what to expect from this Hotel/Motel however it exceeded our expectations. Rooms are basic but clean and comfortable however price wise very well worth it. The hotel is very clean and nice, great place to have dinner and kid friendly as well. The Decor is something to see and experience. It’s like being in Vegas back in the 60’s. The Neon Signs and colour scheme is very well done. Highly recommend to stop over for a couple of days and experience it.

This is a review about a meal I have ordered at the eatery pub (club) Astor while on my way to Victoria. My friend and I thought that stopping for a meal at what I thought was glamorous venue will do a job for us transients. The meal was the special “ lamb shoulder “ for a $22.00 looked like the quick eat and go meal, no fuss and not to save time before finishing a long trip from Sydney. Waooo ! What a shock we got ? Gary slivers of sliced what was supposed lamb ( slippery, since ridden ) and you couldn’t cut on the plate with porous cavities throughout and if you catch a piece of a lamb with a normal kitchen knife, you will struggle to tear a piece off! Ate the vegetables, as I was hungry and left my friend to fend for the lamb slice kill. It is the same story. We thought we walk away and think of it as a gamble when you don’t know the venue! The bartender (a young fellow) was very professional and came to clear the plates and he asked how the experience was? He got the truth from myself, as I have told him that it was, no exagération, the worst dinner or meat cut I have ever been served! He apologised and we told him to take the comments to the chef! He asked us if he can do something to make it up for the experience and we thought a simple pizza tomato and cheese will do, to walk away at least with a good outcome! He came back later, saying that the chef, wouldn’t accommodate the special request and that he could offer something from the bar instead for us! We declined his good offer and we highly recommend this young bartender, as he really takes pride in this establishment! As to the manager or the chef, that he reported to, will get a “fail” mark from us and hope his time is very short at this club! There are people that still care and would do anything to further the goals for this massive and beautifully set up Bar and Eatery! Good luck with it all

Went there for lunch, great food and great service. The staff were welcoming and friendly and the food delicious 😋 Has had an upgrade and bathrooms are clean and easy to access. Inside and outside dining options with a warm fire place inside, and a quiet atmosphere. We had the pork, Thai beef salad and a mocktail. Would go there again. You can order from the menu or select from their lunch time specials.

Overall was pretty good. Excellent price for room quality, modern facilities in the double room I was in, small but comfortable. Great location and the food in the restaurant was top quality. Maybe a bit noisy as my room was close to main road so could hear cars and some hoons and often could hear people yelling into the early hours of the morning. Very closely located to lots of shops including many different food take aways if you didn’t want to eat at the restaurant. It’s probably not somewhere you would want to stay more than a few nights but definitely would stay here again.

Bargain accommodation, only $99 for a double room, very clean and comfortable and Great value. There were 8 of us that all ordered different meals and we all commented how good they were. Lovely friendly staff. We would highly recommend staying here

Stayed here just one night . The room was exceptionally clean, fairly compact however it was well laid out, tastefully furnished and even included a kitchen sink. The bed was very comfortable. This hotel has its own bar and restaurant /eatery, plus parking. Its fairly close to town easy to find, The one down side was that parking is not allocated to guests so it's open slather as it's shared with bar and restaurant patrons and I found it difficult to get a park on the Saturday night I stayed .

Head here early, as it quickly fills on its themed nights. We went on a Wednesday, which is trivia night. But we go for the ribs. It's hard to find really well cooked juicy pork ribs in a rich marinade served with chips and coleslaw (American style) and it is bang on. A half serve sates my wife and I and we wash it down with their AIX Provence rosè. What a triumph. The bar and kitchen team are all super nice and friendly. Great vibe for a lunch or early dinner.

We (family of 2 adults & 2 kids) stayed for one night on the Melbourne to Sydney trip. We stayed in a family room: double bed (not queen) and 2 singles. It is possibly the most convenient location to hop off the Hume Highway for a night’s rest. It’s a super cool mid century building …. From the outside. Only the hotel (bistro / bar) has been fully renovated. And that is pretty cool and worth having lunch or dinner at. And I’m doing so you could park your car and take photos of the motel. But the motel rooms have NOT been renovated. The exterior painted, yes (and it is really pretty) but the interiors are seemingly untouched from the mid-century - possibly including the mattresses - so genuinely retro. Pros: room was clean, lovely clean sheets and towels, great shower pressure and hot water. Comfy pillows. Air con. TV. Wifi. Kettle/toaster/fridge/long life milk/tea and coffee. Cons: a choice to be made (in summer) between air con and noise (old system, very noisy). Although it’s perfect if you like sleeping to white noise. But the heat / sound trade off may be redundant as the mattresses are terrible and may prevent you sleeping anyway. The adult bed was a double and the mattress springs were clicking even if just rolling over - seriously think the mattresses are original mid-century. As a result one of our kids slept in the double with me and my husband slept in one of the singles. The wifi signal was quite weak and the TV may have been linked to this as the TV signal was also sketchy (but is has a remote so not mid century, perhaps 90s). On the way from Sydney to Melbourne we stayed at the Atura at the diagonally opposite end of town. Much further from the Hume Highway. But it was only $40 / 25% more and we got a MUCH nicer room (lovely bathroom, good tv and wifi) , with a super comfortable bed…. and they have a pool (great for the kids after a long car trip). Note for EV ⚡️ drivers: There is no guaranteed parking in front of the motel building let alone outside your own room (as the parking lot is shared with the hotel). So don’t count on being able to run a cable from your room to your car to charge. You will be able to park (in the parking lot at the back or on the street) but no guarantee it will be near your room.

Be careful! I wanted to change my booking date and so they charged me 100% cancellation fee. I had no recourse as they kept my card details from a previous visit. 100% is ridiculous, this out and out greed and no way to treat a returning customer.
