Pet-friendly Hotels in Alexandria

We spent four nights at the Holiday Inn downtown Alexandria. The description on Priceline said it was a brand new hotel and it definitely wasn’t new but it had been updated and was clean. When we got to our room we noticed it was missing the desk and chair that is shown in the photos and also listed as an amenity. There was a mirror on the wall like it was centered to hang over something, like a desk, but no where to be found. We asked the staff downstairs about it and they didn’t know it was missing but she said she would try to get us one. A few minutes later a nice man knocked on the door and he has a swivel chair. We were grateful for that and asked if a desk was coming too. He says, “you don’t have a desk?” And is looking past me to see and he was obviously surprised and had no clue what was going on. He didn’t think he had anymore and apologized. The next morning housekeeping came around and my husband just asked her if she knew anything about our missing desk and she said she would make a few calls and in less than five minutes someone was there at the door with a desk! Promote this young lady, she makes things happen! We ordered from the restaurant once and the hamburgers were very very good. Breakfast buffet was good and about $10.99 I think. This isn’t a Holiday Inn Express, there is no free breakfast.

Kathryn was exceptional. She's easy to work with and VERY understanding. She made sure she went the extra mile to accommodate me and I definitely appreciate that. Superb customer service, and I would definitely recommend this place just on her hospitality.

My organization and I come to Alexandria a few times each year, and we've been faithful customers of the Home2 Suites the past few years. We typically booked 1-3 room(s) per stay, and most of our experience was relatively enjoyable. However, earlier this month, there was a MAJOR concern, and management failed to handle the situation properly. A person from my company is taking cancer medication cream, and their product treatment mysteriously vanished from their room while they were gone. This only occurred after an unrequested visit from housekeeping. The vanishing cream (this cream was in an expensive bottle and could appear to be a cosmetics cream; the treatment was purchased for $250+) was never found after repeated searches. My team and I thoroughly searched the hotel room several times, looking through the garbage, searching above shelves, checking underneath furniture - trying to do anything we could to ensure that the medication had not been accidentally misplaced. Additionally, we waited until we checked out of the hotel and we returned home to confirm that the medication was not packed away in our personal luggage... Alas, after everyone within the company unpacked their traveling bags, no cancer medication was found. I understand that 9 out of 10 times, missing items are typically attributed to guest error or misplacement. However, this was the 1 out of 10. The person in my company had to pay for another round of cancer medication treatment. There was no reimbursement whatsoever for our stay (we had booked multiple rooms for several nights), no responsibility on behalf of the management to conduct thorough investigation on the missing medical treatment, no protocol established to help restore trust in this business. Due to damaged trust and the failure of this hotel to adequately provide a solution or support in this situation, we will not do business with this establishment going forward. If you stay here, I recommend putting away any valuables, even when room service is unrequested... You might find something missing... but don't worry - at least you'll get those fresh towels you didn't request.

For the most part, the hotel was updated and comfortable. There were a couple of problems. This hotel was the host hotel for a Conference with probably 250-300 people. There were only 2 ice machines and one of them did not work. Upon arrival, we discovered that our phone in the room did not work. It was reported immediately and when we checked out 2 days later, it still did not work. To me this was a safety issue that should have been addressed immediately.

Great service and clean rooms

We just want to take the opportunity to thank this hotel -- La Quinta - Alexandria LA for their superb hospitality during our stay. The hotel was very clean and comfortable. Our room was wonderful and very comfortable to sleep in. A special shout out to Alexis Culbreth, night auditor at La Quinta who went above the call of duty to make this stay an unforgettable one in the most pleasant way. Alexis was so professional and compassionate in her greeting us as we walked in at 2am in the morning after being on the highway for over 14 hours. Alexis demonstrated that she is truly compassionate in her work and that she is committed in providing quality customer service at the highest level. She took time to share all the good features of the hotel and showed she was a true team player. I'd like to keep this place a secret so I can be assured I will always have a place to stay but that would be just plain selfish. If you ever in the area of Alexandria LA check this hotel out. My family stayed at Candlewood Suites due to my father having surgery at Rapides Regional Medical Center. Elaine greeted me when I went to check in and was very helpful in putting my brother's room (separate reservation) across the hall from my room. Then, the next day when I needed to get a room for my sister and her family Elaine was again very helpful in getting their room close to the rest of the family and even letting them check in early. We couldn't have asked for a nicer person in Elaine. The rooms were very clean and had no issues.
