This is a very old hotel, and the main entrance lacks wheelchair accessibility, which was a bit inconvenient. Once you get to the lobby, there's a vintage elevator that goes to the top floor. All the staff were very enthusiastic and provided excellent service. The room was quite small and cramped, and the mattress was a bit too soft. The facilities were very outdated, with some obvious stains. However, the bathroom had been renovated and was very clean. The rooftop restaurant for breakfast offered fantastic views, which made up for half the room rate, and the breakfast itself was also good. A nice bonus was the daily happy hour from 6 PM for an hour, offering complimentary snacks, desserts, soft drinks, and alcoholic beverages, which was pretty good.

This century-old hotel boasts a strong vintage charm with its decor, though the facilities are a bit dated. The lobby's atrium is spacious, and the manual elevator doors retain their old-world aesthetic, adding to its unique character. The breakfast at the rooftop restaurant is quite good. Plus, a historic dessert shop, famous for its local snacks, is just a few minutes' walk away and definitely worth a try.

This is a century-old hotel in Alexandria, and you can see traces of history everywhere, from the lobby to the rooms, which are all very opulent. While some of the facilities are inevitably a bit dated, the overall experience was still very good, especially the breakfast restaurant with its amazing sea-view terrace.

Classy, authentic, stylish hotel of the sorts one is rare to find. Excellent service and helpful. They responded immediately to my query before staying at the hotel. Rooms are spacious, elegant and aristocratic. Marbles in the bathroom give a luxurious take. In the corridors one listens to Edith Piaf or Dalida. There is an amazing scent everywhere. The elevator-old style is a real gem. The restaurant at the top offers stunning views to the port and the square. The breakfast is endless: you just cannot eat all! From fruits to local tastes, cheese selection, viennoiserie, amazing desserts, freshly made omelettes and fresh juices like strawberry or guava. I will visit again!

Traveling as a group of four, there was no doorman to open the car door upon arrival. It was only after we carried our luggage up the steps and through the main entrance that a doorman finally came to assist. The front desk staff were unfriendly; we were made to wait half an hour for check-in. Meanwhile, local guests (Arabs) who arrived at the same time were given priority and checked in immediately. After waiting over 30 minutes without progress, we had to raise our voices and argue with the front desk, and suddenly, our room was ready in seconds. The lobby manager showed no ability to resolve the conflict, which frankly felt like severe discrimination against Asians. The hotel facilities are outdated. The elevator door on the third floor was constantly broken and unusable. Several members of my group experienced nightmares that night, which speaks volumes about the overall experience. The service is completely inconsistent with a five-star hotel. I would not recommend this hotel to fellow Chinese travelers.

Excellent location. We had a room with view on the plaza and the sea. Hotel with traditional historical feel and modern amenities, best of both worlds. Helpfull and smiling staff. Excellent breakfast. I highly recommend this hotel.

Enjoyed living the past of my grandparents with the modern touch of comfort. The wooden frame of the lift and stairs to the rooftop is a landmark. The reception staff will do the maximum to make your stay the best.

I booked two rooms for a two-night stay, hoping to experience a vintage-style hotel. If that's what you're after, this place might be worth considering, but it gets very noisy until midnight, so it's not recommended for comfort. I understand these are hardware issues, and I was prepared to give it a 4.8 rating. However, what happened next clearly points to management problems. (1) Breakfast restaurant: On the second morning, I ordered both coffee and tea. The coffee arrived, but the tea never did, even by the time I left. On the third day, as I had to leave early, I went to the restaurant at 7 AM. I was told to wait 'just a minute,' but 10 minutes later, nothing was ready, and they were still cleaning with a vacuum cleaner. My rating dropped to 4.0. (2) Dinner included with the room: The dinner was truly subpar. We only went on the first night and opted for afternoon tea upstairs instead, which might have shown more goodwill, but this point doesn't affect my overall rating. (3) Check-out: They insisted on inspecting the room, which felt really cheap. They even claimed I consumed two chocolate bars from the mini-fridge! I hadn't even opened the fridge door. Do guests have to inventory items upon check-in every single time? I was furious; this felt like an insult. I'd already spent a lot of money, and they were quibbling over such a petty amount. The front desk staff apologized, but surely, after such an incident, management should have stepped in to apologize? My rating dropped to 3.0. (4) Our car was valet-parked by the hotel, with the keys left at the front desk. On our third day, when we were leaving, the valet person was nowhere to be found. A waiter had to take us to the parking lot to retrieve the car. We planned to leave at 8 AM but ended up departing at 9 AM. After we hit the road, we noticed the mileage was off by 100-200 km (car rentals in Egypt are typically limited to 150 km per day, so we were already over). The staff's quality is seriously questionable. This could only lead to a bad review. In summary: We tipped generously. The hotel has adopted the English exterior, but when it comes to service and integrity, they still have a long way to go. I look forward to a positive response from management.

We were disappointed by the terrible service. The staff doesn't seem to understand simple English like 'bath mat' or 'floor mat'. It took them over 30 mins to send a staff to our room to clarify what is a 'bath mat', and when we asked for toilet paper, we waited for more than 30 mins and in the end had to use the public toilet. The antique lift is beautiful but it's very slow esp when other guests are using it. The other lift was out of service so we only had 1 functioning lift across 5 floors. Terrible.

I truly enjoyed my stay at La-Metropol. You get to be treated like royalty. Very safe and trustworthy place to stay in. I forgot a valuable item after checking out, and was given to me appropriately, so very grateful for that. Love the atmosphere in general. Very convenient. Thanks again to everyone at La-Metropol. Great experience as always.
