The location in IJburg is not, of course, the city centre. With the train 26, the Central Station is well reachable in about 20 minutes. A supermarket is located between the end station (there is also a ticket machine) and the hotel. Availability with the PPNV is a train or car arrival that you can leave in the parking house (there are cheaper parking places than in the hotel itself).
Breakfast is very good. We can also express wishes that are then freshly prepared (e.g. mirror, omelet). Heat drinks are available by self-service from the full-automat. There is also a delicious hot chocolate here.
The room looks a little unfinished. Gray walls without color. There is no closet, but only a cord with clothing bar. A small treasury, a TV with, among others, German broadcasters (ARD, ZDF, RTL) there is also.
The bathroom separates a milk glass slide door, but it leaves a gap open that should be taken into account when you do not pin the room alone.
The bathroom is wet when you do it, because the shower is only half closed and there is no door.
The hotel is recommended if you can make a little bit at the price, 200 euros per night would be too much.

We enjoyed our stay here, the hotel was out of the city but had a tram stop right outside that was easy to navigate and took 15 minutes into the centre. Bed was comfy, room was clean with fresh towels often. The one thing we would fault this hotel on is that there is no aircon. I understand that like the UK, Amsterdam doesn't often get very hot. The particular week we went was 26 degrees and the room was unbearable to be in. We were waking up every morning uncomfortably hot and not getting a good nights sleep because of this. We opened all the windows we could but were left with hundreds of mosquitos all over the room. We asked to change rooms as it was our last night and unfortunately they said they didn't have anything for us. The staff were swift to exterminate all of the mosquitos and offer us complimentary soft drinks. Staff were friendly and helpful.

We chose to stay in Edam because it was central to all of the towns we wanted to visit in the Netherlands. We wanted somewhere charming, quiet, and less overwhelming than Amsterdam. This hotel gave us exactly what we wanted. Edam has a very peaceful vibe and so does this hotel. We stayed in a Junior Suite on the ground floor that was right on the canal. It felt very private and had a great view. The room was clean and decorated very uniquely with lots of colors. I really appreciated this! The free breakfast was in their lovely dining room. The croissants were especially good! We told them we needed parking in advance of our stay, and we were given a parking pass for a nearby parking lot. Which was free for us and worked out perfectly. This hotel is also very close to the bus station. It was a very easy 5-10 minute walk there so we could take a bus to Amsterdam for the day. We highly recommend this hotel and town!

I had to say for a month stay at the Yays Docklands in March 2024. There were some positives and not so positives about my stay, so let's get started: Positives Apartments are spacious (I stayed in a 2 bedroom one), you'll find kitchen utensils, microwave, fridge, coffee maker (Nespresso) so this will help save on restaurant bills. Rooms are comfy enough with a full bathroom and you'll find shampoo and shower gel upon arrival so no need to bring along unless your skin type requires a specific one. I found the shower temperature to be fine yet it would suddenly get slightly colder during the course of a shower for no particular reason. Wifi does work (my Zoom calls went uninterrupted except for a day where wifi did not work for over 24 hours, no apologies nor previous advice from Yays), you can connect your phone to the TV, which you'll find one wall-mounted one in the main bedroom in addition to the living room. Yays is mostly used by tourists or, as me, people staying for weeks at a time, so it's very quiet during the day, I worked from the apartment a few days and I was perfectly able to enjoy the silence. There's a nearby street (Borneostraat) which is multiethnic and where you'll find great Turkish coffee, authentic baklava and many interesting restaurants. I encourage you to explore this street. Not so positives Location is a bit removed from downtown, however that's a matter of perspective. You can get to Central Amsterdam in about 15 to 20 minutes so it all depends on your particular preference. You can go there by tram, bus or even train (this one I'd discourage as it takes some walking or bus/tram). If you need some grocery shopping done, your closest supermarket is about 1 km away so be prepared to walk and carry your groceries with you. Staff at Yays is not responsive, cleaning arrangements are modified which is rather inconvenient and the cleaning crew don't bother to check if you're running low on gel or shampoo. All in all, I think the positives outweigh the not so positives, mostly if you're only staying for a few days as you'll most surely spend most of the time exploring Amsterdam and surrouding areas. Would I stay at the Yays again?: if I can find a better located alternative then no, I would not just for the convenience factor. Tip: Ask for a room located on a high floor, views will be better and you'll be more removed from the street noise (nothing to be concerned about, just one club located next to the Yays which operates Friday and Saturday evenings but the noise coming from it is very light). Hope this will be useful for you.

I travel for work and frequent hotels on a weekly basis for the last 16 years, usually Hampton inns or holiday inns. I have never had a breakfast remotely as good as what this hotel serves! There was such a variety of different foods, and we would get a great start to our day with a full belly! Was nice as we could skip lunch as prices were so high at the restaurants. Room was nice and otherwise typical of a Hampton Inn.

Lot of good things about this hotel. Brilliant accessibility. One cannot ask for more. Hotel is right in front of the metro so accessibility to any place is not an issue. We even took an early morning train to the airport. Rooms were spacious with good air-conditioning. Room service was done everyday, but could have been better. Customer service was good and a no nonsense check in and check out. They even gave us some packed breakfast the day we had to leave at 4 am. And I must mention the breakfast was amazing with a huge spread and you can get almost everything. Overall the best place with value for money if you are in Amsterdam and central is hardly ten mins away by train.

FFootprintI had a wonderful experience at this place. The staff greeted me warmly with smiles, and I thoroughly enjoyed my time here. The rooms are modern and impeccably maintained, and it's conveniently accessible by car with paid parking near the Jumbo store. The breakfast was also delightful. I highly recommend this establishment.
DdrduxianfengThe hotel is far from the train station, the traffic is not particularly convenient, the environment is good, and there is a lake with a good view on the side. The hotel facilities are a bit old, the room is in general health, the key is that no one comes to clean for 3 days, this is unacceptable, not to mention the service
GGuest UserThe room we were given was one for people with a disability, which meant it was very spacious. The decor was nice, the beds comfortable, although a little soft. The bathroom was also spacious and had everything a disabled person would need. It didn't bother us we were staying in this room. We didn't have breakfast but had a coffee which was good. Because this room is on the ground floor just behind reception and next to the breakfast room we did experience noise. There is a 24-hour coffee and tea making facility in the breakfast room which is great. However, when we were staying, there were people in there even in the middle of the night, as we could hear the chairs being used (scraping sound which was very audible in our room). That got worse when breakfast service really started in the morning. It made sleeping a little challenging. We would stay here again, but would definitely ask for a room on a higher floor and further away from the breakfast room. Check in and out was quick and easy and staff were friendly.
First of all let me tell you that we booked 4 nights in a Topsuite.Fotos are really amazing and look quite new BUT do not trust the fotos. They do not reflect the reality of this Van der Valk hotel.Location to visit the Floriade as well as the check-in were ok. Parking is free. When entering our Topsuite we immediately realized that an empty cup of coffee was still on the floor in front of our door. You can see several trays with the rest of room service food in front of many doors during the whole day....nobody cares.(see fotos)The suite was so dirty in corners, next to walls,or inside shower !You could even write your name inthe dust INSIDE ALL wardroabs and cabinets.Worst of all was the Nespressomachine(please see fotos!!)Frames,TV as well as all other details haven't been cleaned since days....You got a rainforestshower as well as a handshower,BUT the last one did not function.Impossible to get your shampoo out of your hair! We went down to reception to clarify with the manager. We were told that she was out of office at that time but they could reclean?! the suite if we want. Referring to the shower we were told that they would check...As we asked to change the suite we were told that there was no availability at that time.Ok! May be everything would be arranged the other day....As we returned back in the late morning on the following day NOTHING DID CHANGE!No shower, the room was made but still dirty and the cup of coffee still in front of the door.... Let me tell you guys that in this hotel they don't put Kleenexpapers near the sinks!you have to use toiletpaper if you are missing your Kleenex.. For dinner you will meet a very unprofessional service(so lived on OUR table),may be other guests get a better one. For breakfast we noticed that ALL white yoghurts did pass there Expiry dates!!We told the staff about the fact and they took all away.Nobody seems to control expiry dates when putting food on the buffet. We did show the yoghurt pot at the reception and everybody was βreallyβ sorry about that fact and promised us to tell the manager.... As on second day in the evening no message came from the general manger about our complaints,I once again went to reception and finally met the manager. She told me that she heard about our βProblemsβ and that she would understand our frustration....nothing constructive from her side.βthe suites have to be clean dear guest?β...Ok we agree..BUT?As we didn't want to spoil our holidays in this famous hotel we CHECKED OUT after the first night and leaved this VAN DER VALK hotel in the evening.
Really good value for money compared to Amsterdam prices for accommodation. I was visiting family in Almere so it was perfect for my visit, really close to the train station and near shops and cafes. The hotel itself and staff were lovely. Has the basics you would expect and I was very impressed with the turn-down service - I thought that was a very nice touch. The breakfast is quite expensive for continental so I ate out at a local cafe in the mornings. The area itself doesn't feel the safest, there are definitely some dodgy people in the area so I was always aware of my surroundings and vigilant but never had any problems, as I was visiting family, I wasn't out and about alone very frequently.
Stay away from this hotel and run as far as possible away is my advice. They took my money after over 9weeks! I booked this hotel on the 25th of May for 23-26 of June which at the time was 1month away. I cancelled immediately after booking and it was free cancellation, I cancelled because I found another hotel closer the family I was visiting. All the booking were made of *********** on the same day. Cancellation was in fact within 10min. Anyway on the 5th August, I saw β¬380 deducted from my account from Bastion Hotel that was already cancelled. β¬380 after almost 10weeks! That is fraud! *********** said they cannot do anything and that property process payment, property said it say non refundable on booking which was a lie, I asked how come they are taking money after 10week, the hotel did not answer any of my emails. It is either they have employed someone that specialises in fraudulent transaction or they are just thief. Just run away from this hotel.
