"We just spent a week at Hotel Kesselgrub in Altenmarkt im Pongau with our two little ones (16 months and 2.5 months old), and I honestly don’t know why this hotel has only four stars—it absolutely deserves five! From the moment we arrived, it was clear how much love and thought has gone into every detail of this place. The hotel has been newly renovated, and it shows—the design is warm and welcoming, and everything is perfectly tailored to families. The kids club was beyond amazing—better equipped than our own nursery at home! Our children absolutely loved it, and the staff were incredibly friendly and caring. It made such a difference knowing they were in such good hands. One of the absolute highlights was the family-friendly sauna area downstairs. It’s everything you could wish for—relaxing, beautifully designed, and a real treat for parents who still want to enjoy a bit of wellness with their little ones around. Outside, we enjoyed sledging with the kids, which was such a fun experience, and the serene riverside walks just outside the hotel were simply breathtaking. It’s the perfect location for enjoying nature. And the food—just wow! The breakfast buffet is extensive and offers everything you could possibly want. The fact that there’s a 24/7 baby buffet is an absolute game-changer—no need to bring formula, milk, or pureed food, as it’s all provided. There’s also a light lunch option, and dinner is a delicious five-course menu that is incredibly high quality, with something for every taste. Overall, we couldn’t have had a better stay. This hotel is an absolute hidden gem for families, and we will definitely be coming back. If you’re looking for the perfect mix of comfort, great service, and a truly family-friendly atmosphere, Hotel Kesselgrub is the place to go!"

"First the positives. Great location and just a short walk from Altenmarkt town centre. Clean, tidy and good sized rooms. Unfortunately the negatives. The staff were not friendly or accommodating at all. Unprofessional and poorly trained. I asked for an additional pillow as the single ones provided were too thin. Three of us in the room and they could only find one additional pillow! Breakfast was ok, but the staff just did not monitor the stock levels and let things just run out (good job we were flexible). Ran out of juice, ran out of tea bags, bread rolls, bacon, sausages…in fact most things ran out and there was a delay in replenishing! We played table tennis one night. You get the bats and ball from reception and they ask for €20 deposit which is fine. The equipment was passed across in a bag…on taking the equipment from the bag we noticed one bat was broken. Within a minute of being given the equipment we returned to reception to let them know one of the bats was broken . They tried to accuse of breaking the bat….which was unbelievable as we had one just been given the bag with the equipment. On check out one of the others in our party was accused of putting a hole in the wall….covering it with a picture including a screw and raw plug to put the picture up….again unbelievable as we were on a ski trip and not a DIY trip bringing tools and equipment with us! They tried to charge €150. This accusation of course left a bad taste. Final point. We asked if it would be possible to use the spa area to take a shower as we would be skiing on our final morning with a late afternoon flight. Originally they said they would be able to accommodate and then when we returned from the slopes they said no! Not the customer service level that we have come to expect in this ski region….it will be very unlikely that I will stay again in this hotel."
