Caylar village is walkable (a few hundred metres) from the Aire. While the Aire is modern and functional. Caylar village appears almost medieval and is utterly charming. The property is old with walls maybe 60-70cm thick, but it has been modernised beatutifully and sympathetically. The property owners were charming. Room was good. Internet was fast, breakfast was good and even though home made painstakingly packaged for consumption in our rooms due to Covid rules, we liked it and the kids liked it. Dinner recommendation was good too. There is a garden on site too, but we didn't use it because it was windy during our stay. We were happy and expect to return. EV charging is advertised, which normally means a 7kW Type 2 charger. At this venue it means an extension lead with a normal 10A shucko socket ( a standard French mains socket) into which you can plug your own granny charger. This means only 2-3kW charging at best. As we arrived almost empty we were barely half full despite connecting overnight. However we managed to find the only non Tesla charger in the area (a Total unit) tucked away near the camper vans at the aire and topped up the remaining 50% during the excellent hotel breakfast. To be fair to the owners they do tell you about the Tesla Superchargers nearby, which are easily walkable and are plentiful, but we don't have a Tesla unfortunately. Les Capitelles charging with an extension lead is helpful and better than nothing, but I think they should be clearer about what they offer in this regard. maybe get a 32A commando extension lead with a 32A/7kW type 2 Granny charger for the future.
