Regency Palace Amman

This is a decent hotel, but it definitely doesn't feel like a 5-star property. It actually reminds me of the Cosmos Hotel in Moscow. The doors are old, the windows whistle, and right below is the city's main highway with constant traffic jams. The car horns are incessant, and it's impossible to get fresh air. The AC unit wasn't working, making the room stuffy and devoid of any ventilation. The balcony offers a city view, but directly below is the restaurant's roof, covered in trash. Seriously, can't a 5-star hotel keep its premises clean? There's a gym with a minimal selection of old equipment. You can take a dirty, old staircase up to the pool. Besides the views, there's not much else to do there. The TV is laggy and freezes frequently. There are plenty of power outlets, but none where you actually need them: down low, behind the desk, around a corner, but not by the bed. And the cherry on top? A crawling cockroach. In all my travels across the country, I haven't encountered such critters anywhere else, but here they are, front and center.
