I stayed at the Hyatt Regency in Amritsar for 2 nights 30 /31 May as part of a Mercury Holidays tour group. All the hotels used were excellent but the Hyatt stood out because of the attentive nature and politeness of all the staff members. They could not do enough for us. The greeting was exceptionally warm and friendly and we were made to feel special right from the moment we got off the bus. Everything was well organised and the whole experience was wonderful, stress free and relaxing. Everyone was so helpful and the service so prompt and personal. Too ***y staff to compliment from door attendants, greeters, receptionists, luggage handlers, restaurant personnel and room cleaners all deserve more than 10 out of 10. I have probably missed out some roles for which I apologise. If I had to select two names it would be Sonali on greeting. She has a smile to die for (see photo attached) and so helpful and informative. She told us all about the Golden Temple what to look for to get the full experience and showed us a flavour of what to expect there at night and during the day and at the closing of the border ceremony via the hotel information video. She also advised us on the security arrangements at sites and what not to take ( eg cigarette lighters) and expected dress codes. Nothing was too much trouble for this lady and her colleagues. The other person would be Bandano who worked in the pastry shop. I was looking for some of our tour party and another tour group had just arrived so the greeters were very busy in the foyer and she just came over and asked if she could help and pointed out where our people had gone. This demonstrates the team work between all departments and why the service at this hotel is exceptional. I have travelled a lot on business and have stayed in some top class world ranked hotels and this is one of the best due mainly to the genuine attentive nature of the staff and their willingness to help. Nothing was too much trouble.

It feels like the hotel has to be booked in advance. Yesterday it was 230 yuan, and it went up by 70 yuan today, and other hotels did not increase prices on weekends. Opposite the hotel is the post office, and there are McDonald's, but McDonald's is vegetarian and no meat. This area is banned from smoking, drinking and meat, which caused me to miss the meat here. Location - 10/10 Rooms - 8/10 (Premium Rooms) Food - 4/10 Parking - Not Available Staff - 8/10 Tariff - 8/10 We booked this hotel through Agoda at a much discounted price but our booking was cancelled despite providing Credit Card. Later when I checked, the prices had gone up and the rooms were shown as unavailable. When I contacted the property, the rooms were available and the tarriff was higher. Bottomline is - book online and pay upfront on the website to confirm booking. The location is the best part about this hotel. Its bang opposite jallianwala bagh and approx 400-500 mtrs from golden temple. Despite being in such a crowded area, the hotel rooms are surprisingly quiet. The bathrooms are clean and decently spaced. The hotel has no parking but there are plenty of parking spots nearby where you can park your vehicle safely. Its better to park your vehicle and use local e-rickshaws for roaming around as the lanes are very narrow and the frequent jams can give you a headache if you're driving. Use local transport. Its cheap and gets you everywhere. Our booking had breakfast included which was a mistake. The breakfast was very limited with very lazy staff who were in no mood to refill once the food ran out. I had to literally speak to the ***ager to get served. This became an everyday practice during our stay. You can totally skip having breakfast here and go out instead, the nearby restaurants open up pretty early and serve much better options at a lesser price. Non-veg food is not served here because the hotel is extremely close to har***dir sahib and you'll not get non veg options at other nearby options as well. There is a huge market surrounding this area which you can roam around and explore. The stay was comfortable and this hotel is a decent option for whenever you're planning to visit amritsar.
