Pestana Amsterdam Riverside Reviews

Really enjoyed my stay at Pestana Amsterdam Riverside. The hotel has a beautiful feel to it, combining the historic building with modern, comfortable rooms. My room was spacious, clean and the bed was genuinely very comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout the stay, and the location in De Pijp is great if you want somewhere quieter than the centre while still being close to everything. The breakfast was also very good, and the pool and sauna were a nice extra. Overall, it felt like a proper 5-star stay without feeling too formal or impersonal. I’d definitely stay here again when I’m in Amsterdam. This is consistent with the hotel’s current guest feedback, particularly around cleanliness, room comfort, staff and the quieter De Pijp location.

This hotel is really convenient for travelers in Amsterdam because you can’t have a wonderful view of the city and at night you can walk around with your friend alongside of the river

Nice room, with water and lollies available at reception, which was a lovely touch. The early bird breakfast is also a great idea and really fantastic. A few areas could be improved. The air conditioning did not really feel like proper A/C, as we were never able to cool the room down to 18 degrees. Also, while I appreciate the hotel’s focus on sustainability, there were no towel racks in the bathroom. Towels do not dry properly on hooks, which makes it harder to reuse them. The elevator was also a little confusing: the light flashes, then goes off, and only afterwards the door opens. Finally, the first floor could be marked more clearly. It is quite dark there, making it difficult to see where to go.

The location is pretty good, though the metro station is a bit of a walk (across the Amstel). The building is spectacular and the hotel is nice. The room was very small though and the layout was terrible. We had a huge column that made it quite difficult to get around the already tiny room. The ceilings are also very low and the bathroom is in the room (with no separation). 

Disappointing experience overall. Check-in was delayed by 30 minutes, and on the second day our room was not cleaned at all. The staff was not particularly friendly or attentive, which is far below what one would expect from a 5-star hotel. The spa is also quite small and underwhelming. The only real highlight of our stay was the comfort of the bed.

Disappointing overall experience. Poor service and customer experience; Check-in was uncomfortable due to an accusatory tone from front desk staff regarding the number of guests in the room, which felt unwelcoming and unnecessary The breakfast promotion was poorly communicated, signage suggests an automatic early-bird discount, but a voucher must be requested at check-in, which was not clearly explained. The Deluxe Loft Room, while clean, was not comfortable: the sofa bed was uncomfortable, the loft windows had no view, and the ceiling height near the toilet is very low, easy to hit your head. Overall, the room fell well below expectations for the price.

The room was very clean, and the service was excellent.

I had a wonderful stay thanks to the hotel’s exceptionally attentive service. The front desk responded incredibly quickly, delivering luggage and a toothbrush in no time. When I picked up my stored bags, it was raining outside, yet the front desk staff still helped carry my luggage downstairs and loaded it into the car. Their efficiency, thoughtfulness, and dedication truly went above and beyond. Highly recommended!
