Holiday Inn Express AMSTERDAM - SLOTERDIJK STATION by IHG Reviews

Conveniently located near the station, with the city centre just a few minutes away. Unfortunately, the rooms are rather rundown, and the bathroom had issues with mould and poor drainage. The wouldn't drain and is missing parts. There’s no ability to set the AC and they switched off the water for two hours before check out. The breakfast was basic but acceptable. Overall, despite the convenient location, the condition of the hotel means I cannot recommend it.

Very disappointing stay — would not return Extremely dissatisfied with our 2-night family stay, Aug. 19–21. We were 2 adults and 3 children and had requested connecting rooms weeks in advance, but the hotel never responded. Check-in was slow, and we were eventually given rooms across from each other. Both rooms had multiple issues: stained and worn carpets, dusty/poorly cleaned rooms, TVs not working, no refrigerator or telephone, broken lamp, faulty air conditioning, difficult shower temperature, severely clogged shower drain, and visible rust, staining and possible mold in the bathroom. One room was also provided as a twin instead of the double we booked. The broken lamp and clogged shower drain were only repaired during our stay, which was inconvenient and should have been identified and fixed before check-in. Our biggest disappointment was the manager’s attitude during our interactions on the morning of August 20 and August 21 (upon check out). We found her rude, defensive and dismissive when we raised our legitimate concerns. When we questioned the cleanliness and condition of the rooms, she emphasized that this was an “Express” hotel, which felt like an excuse rather than an effort to address our concerns. Being an Express hotel should never mean compromising basic cleanliness, maintenance and guest care. After my wife became understandably upset and explained that we simply wanted value for the money we paid, the manager placed some complimentary treats in our rooms. We appreciate the gesture, but unfortunately it felt like a minimal response and did not go above and beyond to make up for the poor room conditions and disappointing experience. The treats were a nice gesture, but they cannot compensate for the issues we experienced. The location near Sloterdijk station is convenient, but we did not feel safe or comfortable around the hotel at night. There were groups of people smoking, drinking, laughing and hanging around outside, which was particularly concerning for us as a family with three children. Overall, we felt that our family did not receive the value or experience we paid for. Very unhappy with our stay and we will not be coming back.

Location is not bad. 1 station away from central (3 euro train). My only issues was the low variety of breakfast options. Most food are cold food like salad, fruits, bread. Not much hot food options

The greatest bonus point is that the Holiday Inn Express Hotel is conveniently located just beside the Amsterdam Sloterdijk Station, ~ 3 mins walk! Our rooms were nicely cleaned, wifi strength was strong, the complimentary breakfast buffet spread includes a selection of freshly baked pastries, cereals, fresh fruits, juices, boiled eggs & many different sweet & savoury toppings ☺️ We have only one feedback for improvement is the unfortunate heavy stench of urine smell left behind by some of the inconsiderate public members in front of the hotel entrance 😭 All in All, it was a wonderful stay created by each hardworking hotel staff member & the management team - awesome job!

This hotel is a great value, especially compared to the expensive options near Amsterdam Centraal. It's super close to Sloterdijk Station, and if you have a Eurail Pass, the train ride is free! The room was spacious, clean, and quiet, with excellent ventilation and natural light. Breakfast, while not a huge variety, was very good quality. I'd suggest adding conditioner to the amenities. On the downside, the front desk staff seemed a bit stiff, and a housekeeper knocked on my door early on checkout day, which was disruptive. I hope they can improve their service.

The locations very good close by train stations. I book 3 nights with this hotel and wonder that the hotel doesn’t have room cleaning even I put the sign on I need to asked for towels for next 2 days without room cleaning the breakfast was good as standard for Holiday inn

Right next to the bus station, and super convenient for getting to the airport. There's a supermarket nearby, and it's easy to get to the city center by metro. Members get free luggage storage, making it a great option for airport access.

Excellent! The location is superb. Whether you're coming from the train station or the airport, the station entrance is just a few steps away downstairs, which is incredibly convenient. My only minor gripe is that there are trains running past the window, so it can be a bit noisy. However, it didn't bother me at all. Nothing's perfect, right? You have to make some trade-offs. Definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a great spot!

It was excellent location, next to the train station, room was spacious, it happened be my sister’s birthday, hotel give her a free drink she was very happy to try the Heineken beer. We had very good stay. Thanks to all the staff.

Unfortunately, my experience with this hotel was quite disappointing . The first issue happened when I arrived for check-in. I was told at the counter that check-in was only available after 3pm, so I left my luggage with the hotel and informed the staff that I would return at night to check in. However, when I returned at night, the main entrance door was already closed for security reasons. I was completely blocked outside because no one had informed me that the main entrance would be locked after a certain time, and that guests could only enter through another door by tapping their room card. The problem was that I had not checked in yet, so I obviously did not have a room card. There was a machine outside to contact the front desk, but no one responded when I tried to use it. I had to figure out how to get into the building myself, which was extremely frustrating, especially after travelling and arriving at night. The second issue was when I checked out in the morning and wanted to store my luggage. I was then told that luggage storage would cost $5.30. I found this quite surprising, as I had not been informed about the charge beforehand. Since I had plans, I have no choice to paid for it .

Overall was good, but there was a false fire alarm at 5am, which I never experienced and the staff did not explain what happened, very disturbing. The hotel should make sure no one triggers the fire alarm by any means (e.g. smoking)
