What a wonderful experience with a wonderful host in such a historically elegant and charming home! Camilla is such an elegant and entertaining hostess with a fascinating personal history. Her art collection alone is worth the price and then there are the extravagant rooms and breakfast. The location is very convenient for public transportation as well as walking. The park across the street is beautiful and historically important (becomes clear once you visit the Rijks Museum). The rooms are well-appointed and decorated. It is like living in a historical mansion. The entry can be challenging and definitely not recommended for those who have mobility challenges. The stairs are narrow and steep—you must climb up and then back down even for the first floor (but there is a “hidden” way to get your luggage into the lower suite without navigating stairs). The breakfasts are opulent extravagant affairs fit for royalty. More food than can be humanly consumed—but fortunately, nothing goes to waste. We consider ourselves so fortunate to have experienced this B&B and hope to return before Camilla’s eventual retirement.

Lovely quiet area and the owner Camilla is a gracious charming hostess. She delights in preparing the most lavish and delicious breakfasts we’ve ever had. All around a delightful experience.

Staying in the Breitner House is not anything like a normal hotel where you simply get an accommodation. Instead, it is a full experience where you can soak in the history and culture of Amsterdam up close. The spacious suites are gorgeously and artistically decorated, and the property itself sits in a wonderful neighborhood. But perhaps the best part of staying here is the opportunity to sit and chat with the proprietress as she welcomes you with tea and Dutch pie upon arrival and then provides you with an absolutely sumptuous breakfast the next morning. Travel isn't just about seeing the sights, it's also about meeting people. And for those who might be hesitant because the price is a bit above that of a standard hotel, I can only say that for what you actually get for the money, this place is an absolute bargain (the price per square meter of living space is much less than a standard hotel and obviously the Breitner House offers more than just a bigger room...). This was easily the most memorable hotel experience of my life. Highly recommend!

I cannot explain the experience you get while staying at the Breitner house. It is one of the most beautiful homes in Amsterdam. The way it is furnished and the history in the art and decorative pieces is awe-inspiring. The champagne breakfast is such a treat and the owners are such sweethearts. Overall, I cannot recommend this place enough. Such a beautiful stay.

It was an excellent stay! The service was outstanding, and very personal. The building, decor, and views were memorable. It all combined to make our stay in Amsterdam unforgettable. The breakfasts were delicious and customized. The owner of Breitner House goes out of her way to make guests feel welcome and very well taken care of. She is an ambassador for Amsterdam.

We cannot recommend Breitner House highly enough! From the minute we checked in to be greeting warmly by magnificent host, Camilla, to sadly leaving 2 days’ later, we felt truly privileged to have spent quality time in this beautiful romantic and historic home. The building and plush decor and furnishings are from a bygone era. We stayed in the breathtaking Breitner Suite. The champagne breakfasts set you up for the day and are amongst the best we’ve ever had anywhere in the world. Thanks so much Camilla! We will be back and would like to try the Israels suite next time

This is the best place to stay in Amsterdam for a completely different experience, made possible by the hosts, who go to great lengths to make sure that we are absolutely happy. This B&B feels like a home because it is one! Our room ( we took the first floor one), was large, beautifully decorated (early 20th century style), and comfortable. Breakfast is an unforgettable experience, the table is decorated beautifully, wonderful breakfast goodies and classical music to round it off. Nothing is too much trouble for Camila, who was always at hand during our meal. Camila also made sure that our pre-stay requests were met and then topped it off with two lovely bottles of wine and some chocolates. Definitely the place to stay in Amsterdam. The only warning is that this place is for people who have no problem going up and down steep stairs. The house has historical value, so it is understandable that the hosts did not change the interior layout.
