Hotel Van Gelder

Just stayed for one night. Hotel was old and in need of room renovation but the outer area were nice and there was a great view from the breakfast area. My bed was not comfortable for my taste and was an older spring mattress style but everyone has their on bed tastes. It was good for a short stay but wouldn’t want to be there for a longer stay. You need to go up the stairs to reception so will need to carry your case up. But many small hotels in Amsterdam are like this. Good value for a quick stop over central to the station.

I saw the other reviews and they weren't kidding about the stairs, we went up about 4 flights of stairs. These are narrow Dutch stairs too. The accommodations are a great value as long as you don’t bring a lot of luggage. Very close to train station, walking distance to most attractions. Close to many great restaurants and bars.

Staffs are friendly and helpful. Location very good. Next to Main Street and Near to train station. The downside was a bit noisy. Overall stay is 👍👍

I had a wonderful stay at this hotel! From the moment I arrived, the staff was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and helpful. The room was clean, comfortable. The location was also very convenient, and everything made my stay relaxing and enjoyable. I truly appreciated the attention to detail and excellent service throughout my visit. Thank you so much for mailing my jewelry to London. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for enjoyable experience, honest people, very friendly staff and great Location. Thank you

Great location, kind staff at reception! Walk to central station in less than 10 mins. Since the location is so central, it may be noisy at night from bars/restaurants in the area but with the fan on for white noise, I was able to fall asleep. Very minor but washroom could use a hook on the back of the door or equivalent for hanging clothes/towel etc.
