Basecamp Amsterdam

The Unbound is a nice spot if you want some rest and relaxing just outside of the city, at least that is what we expected. Unfortunately once we arrived someone was celebrating their birthday on the other side of the restaurant, all good until they were blasting music and doing karaoke while we were trying to relax was in the hot tub.. a quick heads up from the reception that this would be taking place would have been nice. About the hot tub; we were told that it would be ready at 5PM but that we just have to add “a bit of cold water”. That turned into 1,5 hours of us trying to get it down from a solid 50 degrees to a bearable temperature, a lot of time lost with that. The food was amazing! Would recommend eating here also if you are not staying. Especially the ceasar salad and the catch of the day were good! Because we got so much food for dinner we wanted to cancel the breakfast to sleep in, so we talked to two employees at the restaurant and both said they were going to take care of it and cancel the order. Guess who still woke us up at 9.30, the breakfast we had cancelled the night before ... The little house Wikkel we had was really nice, but they were tons of dead/smashed mosquitos on the wall, and there was missing decoration as explained by the lady who showed us. Putting one and one together, the cabin had obviously not been cleaned and set up for new guests.

We really enjoyed our stay here! It is easy to get in to the city via a short walk to the bus stop, yet so nice to stay outside the hustle and bustle of the city. Our room was simple (no TV which was fine with us), but good internet and the most comfortable bed and a great shower. We had pizza and drinks there in the evening and the staff were all very friendly and accommodating. We definitely recommend this place!

HEARTLESS!!! We planned to stay here for 2 nights and purchased a non-refundable rate. Unexpectedly a family member passed away, and we had to make a last-minute detour to Paris for the funeral and cut our stay short by 1 night. I pleaded with the owner via email to please make an exception and refund the last night because we couldn’t stay. We were flat out told no and not even given condolences. What disgusting behavior. I hope they never are put in a similar position and someone offers them more kindness than they were willing to extend. Meanwhile, they probably were able to sell the room to someone else, which means they got their lost revenue back. Is that even legal?

Bathroom disgusting, staff are good, good bar staff, but the bathroom is disappointing, very good welcome apart from the option I had paid for (wasn’t charged) for a villa with a view was disappointing wasn’t offered a chance to upgrade, would of gladly paid for an upgrade
