I had an excellent stay at Le Louvre Hotel & Spa in Antananarivo. We stayed at Hotel Du Louvre three times for a total of four nights across three different standard rooms, as this property was chosen as a base for our exploration of the east, center an west of the island over a period of 15 days. The overall experience was fine: the location is good, service is appropriate, staff is friendly, food is good, breakfast offers a reasonable selection of dishes, the overall atmosphere in the public areas is elegant, the pool & SPA are nice. Our experience across the three rooms on the 3rd floor we’ve been in was fair and quite consistent. Rooms are clean and the bed is comfortable but they are quite tiny (room 309 being slightly less cramped than the other two) and rather noisy (traffic, chatter, door slamming &tc). The bathroom is also very small without any support to hang or place clothes & nécessaire while showering. Water spills everywhere because the shower cabin is open. Furthermore, each room had few worn out items which would benefit from maintenance. Payment of the extras thru credit card is accepted if above a minimum. All in all positive although with a rather low cost/benefit ratio.

Two of us stayed multiple nights at Le Louvre hotel during our three week stay in Madagascar, as it was necessary to travel in and out of Tana to our different destinations within the country. There was an initial snafu with our need for two twin beds instead of one double, but these problems were worked out and subsequent rooms were upgraded for us. The staff everywhere in the hotel were very pleasant and helpful. The restaurant food was excellent and offered really good vegetarian options. Infrastructure issues are endemic in Madagascar, but generators kept the power on and we lacked A/C only once on the first day. The hotel is centrally located in downtown Tana, and served us well during our trip.
