This is now called Riga Suites Antwerp. It is more than a change of name: this is no longer a hotel and it lacks all the traditional services a hotel offers. For instance, no breakfast; no personnel at reception; no daily cleaning; no left-luggage facilites; etc. It runs as an Airbnb: apparently, they send you a code by email/SMS so that you can access the building. I say apparently because I was never told to expect one and never got one! I got there, expecting to find somebody at a hotel reception; instead I found a locked door and nobody answering my phone calls. I was locked out of a 'hotel' I had already paid for, and had nobody answering the phone. Eventually I asked the restaurant next door (which I was told used to be owned by the hotel when it was a hotel) and they kindly called the number I gave them and they did get a reply. It is outrageous that they would not answer my call probably because it came from a foreigner's number when they are running an Airbnb. I got no apology, no explanation whatsoever, and had to squeeze out an entrance code from them. Terrible experience. Once inside I found out there was no data signal (too thick walls, somebody told me later on) and no sign of a wifi password anywhere. A kind guest who had got it in the SMS I never got gave it to me but without it I would not have been able to do my work. The building and room are ok but the street is terribly noisy (they even provide earplugs). The bathroom is badly designed in a key aspect: the tap sticking out of the wall is the length of the sink; imagine where the water goes when you open it. The room lacks light fixtures, especially if you are thinking of doing some work in the room. The ambience type of lighting is not suitable for all purposes (see photos). None of these would matter greatly for a short stay if the management did their job and sent you the access code. As it is, they ruined my stay altogether and would not advise anyone to book here.
