Rajarata Hotel

As soon as I walked into the room, I saw a cockroach. Then I went to the bathroom and there was a whole meeting of cockroaches. After changing rooms and unpacking all my stuff, I saw another one. Seriously speechless.

First, the good points: the staff is very friendly. Dinner was good, but we've had better buffets in Sri Lanka. Breakfast was okay, with a limited selection of bread, cheese, and yogurt. That was tolerable, but the hotel lacks any charm or atmosphere. This starts in the lobby, continues through the dining area, and extends to the rooms. For a 4-star hotel, the price-performance ratio is completely unacceptable. Our room was filthy with stains everywhere, the bathroom was very small, and the fixtures were calcified and tarnished. The rooms are very noisy and equipped with only the bare essentials. There were no hand towels, only bath towels. A small amount of shower gel and shampoo was provided. The pool is nice and attractive, but the toilets and showers are in dire need of renovation. The same goes for the building you see while swimming, which is located on the property. This is the ninth of ten hotels we've stayed in on our tour, and by far the worst. Tomorrow we're checking into number ten; we'll see what it's like, but we won't be coming back here.
