Went to see my friends album launch it was amazing, however it was so expensive and terrible service had to keep going around the corner to ask a member of staff to come serve us, staff where also just standing chatting and on mobile phones when we where trying to order. The manager not doing his job and leaving someone who was clearly new and didnt know the bar very well. I was there an hour and asked about ordering food was told kitchen was now closed would of been nice to know before hand to know kitchen closed at 9pm

Great little site between Arbroath & Montrose. Very quiet, showers & toilets ok. 100 yds from the beach, fantastic! Be great for families, very safe & dunes great fun. Electric hook ups & sandy soil so good drainage. Cafe next door, can imagine it is busy in the summer.

A lovely relaxed place to visit. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Room was basic but big and clean with a wonderful view over the front lawns. Room had everything we needed Just a short walk to the beach. Breakfast was exceptional. Apart from breakfast we didn't eat at the venue but from what we saw the food looked OK. Bartender made us cocktails. Lovely

Came here with work and stayed for two days. This is a peculiar hotel as really it’s hard to tell if the place is more geared for campers. Anyway on arrival the room was really dirty with hair all over the bathroom floor. It really hadn’t been cleaned at all. No soap, shampoo or conditioner. No towels. Which is not a good start. The room was not serviced during the day, which is a real pain when you have left your dirty towels on a very dirty bathroom floor. The food in the restaurant was basic fair an all fried. Which if that’s what you want then great not so good if not. Breakfast is at 7.30 which was a bit too late for getting to work on time. I wasn’t offered a refund on breakfast. I did have breakfast on my last day and it was good if not very basic. Considering how much they were charging per night I think it should have been much better. The staff were very friendly, but I got the feeling that they were chronically understaffed.

Fantastic stay. Friendly staff and great vegan breakfast. Plenty of parking and a white sandy beach only a short walk away. Also walked to the distillery about a mile away. Had a nice tour and in the evening went back to an ABBA tribute band that was playing at the distillery. They were fun and quite good. My wife and I enjoyed it. Evening meals were great at the hotel with plenty of vegan options. Loved our stay and very reasonable price.

Ate at imries bar and grill. Food and service was brilliant. Huge portions and very reasonable price. Had the fish goujons loaded fries and the burger fries. Lovely outside areas for eating with beautiful scenery. Will certainly be back. Would recommend highly. Might need a nap now after the fish goujons.

The positives: good shower in bathroom, fluffy towels, bed big and comfy. Room and bathroom very clean. The cons which really let the place down, highly questionable decor but really dated and in need of a complete overhaul at best but at least a freshen up of paint and new flooring. Check in was a bit of a wait then quick to get us out of the way so that he could deal with other people, the poor guy who seemed to be doing everything by himself whilst bar staff chatted. He was checking people into the hotel, watering in the restaurant, serving at the bar… He was lovely (possibly Michael?) but running around like a headless chicken. Ate at the restaurant, which again was the same staff member doing everything. 25 minutes to take our order, half an hour to get our drinks, 50 minutes for food to come out. I had undercooked chicken burger…not one for rare chicken so I left it. Satay sauce was peanut butter mixed with milk I think…the other order was completely the wrong thing but we didn’t have time to change it. Very underwhelming. Drinks at the bar, very inexperienced bar staff (although all nice) A real shame as this place could be good.

On arrival at 3pm, have to wait outside for 20 mins for someone to check us in, when we saw the room it was totally unclean, room smelled, shower was dirty, we were told to go to a different area, for our breakfast, wasn't told it would be locked, so we drop the keys in the box outside the room, when we area for breakfast the room was locked, we had to knock on the window to get in, another guests let us in, we really felt like going home, when we had to stand outside to get check in,both us said wish we had

We stayed here last year and looked forward to going back. Not the same experience in May! Three stars for the spacious room, bathroom and the grounds. We booked room 4, in the main house and it is worth paying extra for the quality. We ordered dinner and asked if we could have room service. We were told no as there was only one man on shift to cover the bar and restaurant. The drinks are overpriced and cost us more than dinner for two. We only had one glass of wine, a cocktail and a bottle of cider. It is a captive market as there are few alternatives close by. The food was bland and also overpriced. The chicken burger was tough and dry. The loaded fries were clearly oven chips, reheated in a microwave. Breakfast was a shambles. We could hear several staff behind a door of the restaurant but we had to make the staff aware that guests were in before anyone came out to seat us. We were asked if we wanted any hot food. We asked what was on offer. “Full Scottish breakfast or any other things you want from that”. But we didn’t know what they were! May I suggest printed menus in the tables detailing the contents of the full breakfast to help guests to choose. I ordered a bread roll with scrambled eggs. The eggs were good but they were on a stale brioche roll that was obviously a leftover from the burger buns not used from the night before. The full Scottish was quite good but took a long time to arrive. The staff were friendly but have clearly no experience in hospitality. Such a shame to experience the decline in this hotel in just a few short months.
