We have just returned from a wonderful week at Thalassa Boutique Hotel. We needed a well earned and relaxing break after having spend the last 18 months renovating our recently bought house and this is exactly what we got. From the moment we arrived we felt welcomed and relaxed, I always think the initial impression you get from a hotel is important and sets the scene for the entire break. The lady that greeted us at reception was lovely and very welcoming and provided all the information we needed on our planned days out and car hire. Our room (104) was perfect, lovely big walk in shower and huge bed, we slept very well and our room was extremely comfortable. We did upgrade from B&B to half board as we thought it was a bit of a walk to any other restaurants, in reality it probably is not that far but we wanted a totally relaxing week, and OMG the food quality here is sensational and plenty of menu choice, the BBQ on the Tuesday evening is a must, but the salads, moussaka, beef flank and the lamb dishes in particular were amazing, with out a doubt the best food we have ever had in a hotel and we have been to a lot of hotels across many of the Greek islands. The staff are wonderful and we particularly thought the young lady from Athens who served us regularly was very nice and professional and also the chap behind the bar also, but everyone went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. Also the cocktails are fabulous and very strong, all freshly made and not the pre mixed stuff you sometimes get at other hotels. They will even make you something you ask for if not in the cocktail menu. The pool area in the daytime is extremely relaxing and just simply idilic, there is nobody playing loud music or anything like that and it is extremely refreshing that the designated smoking areas are away from the sunbeds, all the sunbeds though are well spaced apart and there is no mad rush reserving sunbeds as it is not at all necessary. We also thought that the multi stem olive trees all around the pool area instead of the usual palm trees were just lovely and stunning and just added to the overall pool ambience. This is a relatively small (70 or so rooms) boutique hotel and there is an enormous new hotel being built opposite this one, apparently the same owners. Our taxi driver told us that there is going to be an underpass between the two hotels so I would really hope that Thalassa retains its personal, calm and small feel. The hotel also advertises itself on its website as being pet friendly, I did find it really quite odd that there was a couple at the hotel with their dog especially as there are resident cats here that are fed by the hotel staff and it is effectively their home!! We did experience this dog going for one of the cats and the owners just laughed, I did not like this at all. The hotel as I’ve said does have a lot of cats, not at all a problem for us as we love cats, and we liked to treat them to scraps of bacon in the morning, but the od
