Bestwood Lodge

A lovely place. We we're a bit iffy on sraying due to the rating of the hotel but after reading the reviews most were about the rooms being dated. Since we were only planning to be there for a night, who cares? There was an issue with the booking from Trip.com's side which the duty manager Declan was able to resolve in a timely mannor while also making the wait very pleasant with some nice chat. The staff were lovely, including the two young ladys on the bar/food service as well as Declan. Unfortunately didnt get the girls names. The building is stunning and surrounded by lovely woods, perfect for a walk. Rooms are a bit dated, sure, but why are you looking to spend all your time in your room? More than enough to have a comfy sleep in. Also as a side note on that, id imagine It's a listed building and so hard an expensive to update. Overall a lovely night and a pleasant morning having breakfast then a walk. Absolutely would recommend.

Staff, bar and setting were excellent. Breakfast was good but no toast. Rooms are really dated and need redecorating.

Barman was very good. Clean room. Staff was really good. Comfortable bed.

Atmospheric rooms and bar. Clean rooms and comfortable bed. Bathroom was unheated and cold. But if this was resolved I can recommend this hotel as a great base to explore Nottingham.

lovely building and setting. Public areas were well decorated and had a nice ambience. My room was in need of refurbishment; the wallpaper was peeling at the joins and the carpet was stained. But everything else was clean and the bed very comfortable. the shower was great. Would stay again.

Room was fine but basic for the price paid and the temperature of the room was very hot with no real way to turn the heating down. Staff were okay, but had little or no knowledge of the hotel and didn't really engage with guests. We tried to access the garden (as pictured), only to be told it was closed as it was winter?? in September - we have only just begun Autumn. Breakfast wasn't included in the price from *******? this was an extra £20.00 for a basic self service buffet breakfast, even making your own warm (from flasks) drinks. You can of course ask for a pot of tea, but at a price.

Hotel staff we're amazing. The - I'm assuming owner- was very kind and helpful. No issues getting to the hotel or anywhere from it. Nice surroundings. Only issue was the water pressure in our bathroom

Decent but could have been better Nice old building but room heating not good (was provided with electric heater which did improve things) and shower pressure was almost non-existent. Food was very good and staff were very approachable and responsive.

Staff very friendly and helpful room was lovely and clean
