White House of Tanzania

Hi, me and some other volunteers came to Arusha to join a 2-day safari. The night before and after the safari we were able to stay at the White House hostel and were very pleased. We enjoyed the food, wifi, bar! The last evening before we left the staff even arranged to watch a movie in the theater room and prepared pop-corn. Warm and welcoming hostel with awesome facilities. The breakfast is delicious too, so every day starts out on positive note. Would highly recommend to stay here!

I booked both a 3-day safari and a Kilimanjaro hike through the hostel, but both trips were extremely poorly managed. The safari was delayed at the last minute, the route was changed without proper notice, and we lost significant time due to late pick-up and repeated vehicle breakdowns. The Kilimanjaro hike was equally disappointing - I was informed I had to go alone despite booking a group trek, and the guide seemed unaware of what was included. Both experiences were stressful, disorganized, and did not match what was promised when booking. I cannot recommend arranging tours through the hostel.

I had an incredible stay at this hostel! Waking up to the soothing sounds of birds chirping was the perfect way to start the day. The entire place had a relaxed, laid-back vibe, making it an ideal spot for unwinding and reconnecting with nature. The communal spaces were cozy and inviting, and the overall atmosphere encouraged great conversations with fellow travelers. The highlight, though, was the food—freshly prepared local dishes on request that truly brought out the flavors of the region. Every meal felt like a home-cooked delight! If you’re looking for a peaceful retreat with good food, good vibes, and a natural soundtrack of birdsong, this is the place to be. Highly recommend!

Very nice staff and place. Relaxing and tranquil. Bed and room (private which they upgraded me free of charge) were really nice. Warmish water in shower. Great breakfast for $5 and they also sent someone to get food for me at dinner time. Overall was a nice stay.

Very nice stay, super friendly staff, guests can order tasty food right on site. The road to the White House is beaten up but otherwise no issues.

My time at the White House, Arusha was incredible from start to finish! - I was staying here while on a volunteer project with Boresha Maisha Projects. The host Jonas was amazing and very knowledgeable of the area and Tanzania. All the staff were extremely friendly and the chef Pauline made my stay that extra bit better with her amazing food! Also the fire pit each night was a magical touch. Would HIGHLY recommend the White House to stay at if you are in Arusha , or doing Kilimanjaro or a safari! Mark

The hostel is really nice and the people we met there were amazing! The coordinater cared for us and the food was really good. We stayed in a 8 dorm bedroom.

The bedroom was very clean and comfortable. The food was amazing and the staff too. Jonas is very kind and nice. We loved it there
