The important things when staying at any hotel, were excellent: Housekeeping, comfortable bed, quiet, friendly, helpful staff. Those things were perfect. Marlene in particular, when I was there, stood out as a nice person. The breakfast was limited. The air conditioning unit was a bit noisy, but not so much that I couldn't sleep. The pool wasn't available the day I was there in August, but I don't swim anyway, so I didn't care. If the pool is a must for you, then call ahead and ask if it's open. One warning, especially if you arrive at night. Unless they have since repaired the entrance road, there were significantly large potholes in the middle of it. I arrived in daylight, so I could see them. You can easily avoid them, but in any event, be aware that they are there. These are not just inconvenient holes in the road. They are large.

Overall, the hotel was clean and the staff were courteous. All the bartenders looked like they came straight from a modeling agency. Unfortunately, after taking a shower, it smelled like sewage and the noises from the ice machine and elevator kept me awake to where I chose to checkout at 230am instead of sleeping through the night. The dining area was okay. I only ate there once because the noodles were overcooked and I felt ill after eating. I had to park across the street at the paramount due to the concert and several people parked without passes. The gentleman was, however, attempting to control the parking as much as possible. Once the parking garage is built, I hope there are passes required to enter the garage for the sake of others. With all of this said, it is definitely the place I would recommend. You can't get a better place if you are looking for convenient location within walking distance of good food, coffee, a really neat comic book/paraphelia store, and historic sites.

Their website makes it sound like Chama NM or Durango Colorado in regards to the trains. Truth is a major freight goes by several times an hour, shaking the whole building and horns screaming. In between are the smaller trains that will still prevent any sleep. We gave up after two hours, left, and moved about 5 miles to a QUIET and much cleaner motel. When we complained we were not given a refund nor would the chain comp a night on our privileges account. Should be a large red sign on the door warning people this is not a place to try to SLEEP. Refusal of refund shows lack of integrity also. Rated one star because zero stars is not an option.
