Stayed one night at Fairfield by Marriott Kumamoto Aso and it was a peaceful, refreshing stop during my Kyushu trip. The hotel is set near the beautiful Mount Aso area, surrounded by nature — a perfect contrast to the city. Waking up to the fresh air and quiet atmosphere was honestly one of the highlights. The room was clean, modern, and minimalist, with everything thoughtfully designed for comfort. While it’s not a luxury resort, it delivers exactly what you need: a relaxing, no-fuss stay with great quality. The shared lounge space was a nice touch — spacious, cozy, and ideal for unwinding or grabbing a quick bite. One thing to note: there’s no on-site restaurant, so it’s best to plan meals in advance or explore nearby local spots. Overall, it’s a great choice if you’re looking for a calm, scenic stay near Aso. Perfect for a short getaway or a stopover while exploring Kumamoto. Would definitely recommend for nature lovers and road trip travelers.

Located in the city center, this hotel is conveniently situated near a variety of stores. The Usop (One Piece) statue is also located opposite the hotel.

This Marriott property offers great value for money! The hotel is quite new and the rooms are very clean. It's probably one of the better hotels in Aso, and it's super convenient with ramen shops and convenience stores nearby.

Awesome hotel with very convenient location just next to the train station

New, clean, spacious and well designed room. Lots of parking right at the property. Location is beside JR station which is super convenient for those taking train: Lawson is walking distance across the road.

The room was really clean and modern feel. Loved it the moment we stepped in! Pillows and bed was so comfy that allows us to rest well on a road trip. Pls note they do not have kitchen, they do offeted 24hrs free coffe, tea and miso at their mini meals area where you can buy your own food and enjoy there with families. Seriously no complaint about the hotel. But if you are heading there on sun like us, pls do note you will have limited choice for dinner as most restaurants closed on sun

Honestly, everything is good except the view is disappointing. Despite being a Marriot member and staying multiple nights, though staff informed that room has view of Aso crater, the view is visibly blocked by the power lines and the level was low (level 3) and maximum level is 5. Hence, felt that the view was disappointing as it could be much better

Aso is way too isolated for my liking. The hotel location couldn't be any better given you can see the train pulling into the station though. Friendly service and the staffs English was fine. Shame about the poor winter weather meaning the crater wasnt open for people

Beautiful hotel with Mountain Views. The hotel looks spectacular and is very clean. The room is very spacious. Location is perfect as it shares the same building as the mall. You can use the lift which brings you directly to the mall. The mall has shops like Uniqlo, ABC Mart and many more, including a food court with various food options. There are 3 washing machines in both the male & female public onsen area, however it is pretty difficult to get a chance to wash your clothes. The hotel seems like a popular wedding venue, however it does not disrupt the stay as the guests do not seem to linger in the lobby at all. There’s a Nescafé coffee machine which you can help yourself to outside the public onsen, along with Kumamoto’s fresh spring water tap for drinking. For parking, please avoid the carpark infront of the mall as it is expensive. If you’re facing the mall, the hotel’s carpark is at the left side basement of the mall. The hotel provides a discounted price at off-peak periods. It’s best to leave your hotel before 12 noon. It is paid parking and there’s a ticket machine at the basement entrance of the hotel. The hotel location is perfect as it is also very close to a station.
