Please search the bad reviews on Booking, Google and Tripadvisor before booking. The man working there was accused of ******, and more, multiple times. He also replies to the negative reviews unprofessionally, belittling the other person and trying to make them sound crazy. I and my husband were given a room in a BASEMENT, with no cellular connection, a shower not working, a toilet that was broken and would not flush, broken electrical sockets with holes in the wall. The street next to the hostel is EXTREMELY noisy, to the point I was waking up every 5 minutes. The owner of the hostel was very rude, grumpy and disrespectful. Since he opened the door, no smile, no greeting, only a grumpy look on his face - we felt like he was angry at us. He even got irritated at my husband for carrying our suitcase to our room because it made a bit of sound - we understood he implied that we should leave it in the public corridor. We felt that the way he talks to his guests is entirely unprofessional and unappreciated. As if this wasn't enough, we had an issue with this man about our marriage certificate, even though prior to our arrival he did not inform us he has any specific requirements (and nowhere else did we have any problem). He also said if I'm married I have to have it written in my EU passport (which is incorrect)..... He put us in separate rooms for the night, cancelled the rest of our stay and forbade us to sit together in the middle of the night to find another accommodation for the next night (he literally said I have to go to my room). I felt he was sexist as he only spoke to my husband in Arabic and refused to speak English to me despite my MULTIPLE requests. Moreover, he insulted my husband and implied he's stupid referring to his university degree. I cried the whole night as we tried to find another hotel and my husband tried to calm me down - that's how we enjoyed Aswan. We left the next morning as everything in the city was too expensive so last minute. David Hostel is so cheap for a reason.
