Hotel Indigo AUCKLAND by IHG

Highly NOT recommended!!! This hotel pretends to be Chinese-friendly, but it's actually terrible. When we checked in, they told us the water in the fridge was free. We even called from our room to double-check if both the water and alcohol were free, and got a positive confirmation. There were no price tags for anything in the room. When we checked out, they said nothing, but after we returned home, they just charged our card directly. This is outrageous, clearly a rip-off. Absolutely do not come here! The breakfast was also bad, with limited choices, definitely not worth the price. You'd be much better off at the JW or the Red next door; both have great locations.

The location is excellent, very close to Queen Street. The service was average. The breakfast was terrible – hard bread and the same fixed menu every day. It was also very salty. While the presentation was nice, an à la carte buffet would better cater to individual needs. Next time I'm in Auckland, I won't be staying here again; the thought of that breakfast is enough to put me off. On our last day, everyone just gave up and skipped breakfast.

Beware! My friend and I both got bitten by bed bugs. It was so itchy, and I couldn't even scratch. At first, I had a few bites on my arms and thighs, but I didn't think much of it, assuming they were just normal bumps. But then, when more and more started appearing, we realized something was wrong. I'd heard about bed bugs in New Zealand, and when I asked 'Doubao' (a friend/contact), it turned out to be true. Everyone traveling to New Zealand should definitely wear long pants and keep themselves covered.

There were still sunflower seed shells left in the room, which hadn't been cleaned properly. Check-in was very slow, and often only one counter at the front desk was open. The breakfast quality was decent, but the $60 parking fee was a bit expensive.

I had a very comfortable stay. The room wasn't big, but the view was great and the service was good.

Had a great stay here. The hotel has a modern design, and the room was spacious, spotless, and very well-maintained, with new facilities. The Sky Tower view room we booked offered a good view, and the location was super convenient – within walking distance to Auckland city center and Sky Tower. The staff were friendly and professional, making the overall check-in process smooth. There are just a few minor details that could be improved. Overall, it's a highly recommended hotel, and I'd definitely consider staying here again on my next trip to Auckland.

I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights in total. I'm not sure why the room rates were so high here; I later moved to the Crowne Plaza where the rooms were much larger. This hotel has a distinctive design style, but the rooms are quite small, and the dining area is a bit dim. On my first day, I had a lot of luggage, but the front desk didn't help me unload it from the car. The hotel only holds luggage for the same day. When we needed a taxi, we asked the front desk to call a van, and they charged us 40 NZD for a 300-meter ride. I later found out this was extremely expensive, and I suspect it has something to do with their partnership with the taxi company. Additionally, the housekeeping staff threw away an item I left behind. Overall, I chose this hotel because it seemed like good value for money, but the actual experience was just on par with a 'Ji Hotel' (a budget-friendly chain in China). However, the breakfast was decent. At this price point, there are definitely many other options available.
