Had a 3 night break staying at the Cartwright hotel, On arrival greeted by Terry, great guy for whom nothing was a problem. Our purpose for the visit was a visit to Blenheim palace and Bletchley park, which Terry organised tickets for us. Our room was lovely and warm, plenty of hot water for shower and a bath….Aynho is very quite location, with pubs close for which you will need a car. However Terry was on hand in the bar area for a pre evening meal drink..lovely food, my wife had the sea bass 2 nights running. I had a lovely fish and chips with homemade chips and a lovely homemade mushy peas….the breakfast was truly splendid, lovely quality and plenty off it. Good choice of fresh fruit/cereal/yogurt.

I met family from Wiltshire as this was a half-way point. The photos on the website do not reflect you the restaurant. We only booked for lunch. Extremely limited menu and poor food. Website offers an extensive menu and then on arrival this is not available. Restaurant is tired and staff seemed irritated with having customers. Definitely would not recommend the restaurant and food!!

We stayed at the Cartwright Hotel for three nights as a convenient meeting place to meet family. On arrival there was an issue with our bedroom which was rectified immediately with satisfaction. The rooms were undergoing decoration during our stay and our daughters bedroom was clean and comfortable. Our own room was spacious and comfortable with quality linens. Breakfast was excellent with a varied choice and a freshly cooked ‘Full English’. The highlight of the stay was the staff members. Corey and Stuart were friendly, helpful and enthusiastic about the hotel and area. Terry, the acting manager was helpful with planning and organising our days out to Blenham and Bletchley, both great days out. Excellent value and we hope to return.

Spot on, traveled here for work. Rooms are great, all the staff are very friendly. The food is great, the burger is a must try, locally sourced and fresh and it shines through. Clearly the chef considers quality ingredients and uses them correctly. Will definitely be back. Cheers

We stayed over night as part of a weekend visiting Bletchley Park and the Blenheim Palace ( discounted tickets available from the hotel ). We stayed in the main hotel in one of the mini suites, it was very clean and comfortable. Nice king sized bed and large separate bathroom. Our stay included an evening meal and breakfast, both of which were excellent, there was a wide choice of starters, main courses and desserts. Breakfast was equally delicious, fresh fruit, juices and a wide selection of pastries. I opted for a cooked breakfast with was done to perfection, I don’t know if the ingredients were locally sourced but they were of good quality and tasted great. The host and hostess were very friendly and attentive, nothing was too much bother and they were helpful in suggesting other places that we might wish to visit. We would highly recommend the Cartwright Hotel for couples and families visiting the area and we would definitely stay again.

Arrived to a beautiful coaching house in a really pleasant village. Unfortunately, it didn’t take long to turn south. Arrived at just gone 2pm. Waited at the reception, and no one there. Went to find someone and they said they would be right through. 15 minutes later someone arrived. Not good enough, and not my fault if you don’t have enough staff. Given the key to Room 22, which looks like a stable. It was pretty tatty! Cigarette bucket outside the door. Falling paint inside and out. Filthy curtain across the door. Walls dirty. Bathroom floor filthy with hair. Dressing table without a mirror filthy. Tiny TV. Only luke warm water for the shower/bath. Carpets not very clean. Sides very dusty. No plug for the bath. This place clearly hadn’t been cleaned in a while. Breakfast was just about ok. Parking was fine too. People working there were pleasant. If it wasn’t for those things, I would have rated one star. There is no way I would stay here again, as it is clear they spend the profits on the restaurant, and just leave the hotel to dilapidate. If this used to be a nice hotel, then those days are clearly gone. I’m all honesty, this is one of the worst rooms I have ever stayed in. Apologies if this offends the owners, but it’s the honest truth.

This hotel comprising a collection of historic buildings in the heart of the Oxfordshire village of Aynho is the perfect jumping off point for exploring the Cotswolds. The staff are pleasant and helpful and the rooms generously proportioned - the only downside is that the whole place feels like it could benefit from an upgrade and makeover. There is a restaurant on site and the breakfast was fabulous. If money was no object, inspiration for interior design could be found literally across the road from the hotel at the Restoration Hardware emporium that has transformed another historic building into an astonishing showroom for beautiful design and homeware.

Have just returned from a two night Travelzoo deal at the Cartwright. Reading the previous reviews we arrived with trepidation. However, we had a great stay. Room, in the courtyard, was welcoming, comfortable, and, above all, clean. Large bed (plus a single), sofa, flat screen tv. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening meals, and breakfast was very well presented. We found the staff very friendly and accommodating. Visit the interior design mansion just across the road for an experience!

We were slightly apprehensive having read the previous review. Our experience was completely different. Room spacious, warm and clean. Plenty of hot water. Dined twice and enjoyed both meals. Food served in good time and staff chatty and charming. Breakfast was good too. Fresh fruit, raspberries, blueberries, blackberries with yoghurt and muesli as well as a varied selection of cooked breakfasts. Very helpful staff. Our package included Bletchley Park tickets. A humbling but informative place. We also visited RH England which is just a short walk from the hotel. Surreal. Have a look around but return to The Cartwright for dinner! All in all more than pleased with our stay so TQ to the Cartwright team.
