This was the first 'Smart' hotel (no receptionist) we have come across and it was easy getting in. We were upgraded to a suite which was excellent as we don't get upgraded at all. The room was huge, the bathroom was huge (with a spa tub), the bed was big & very comfortable. Parking was easy at the back of the Hotel. The Hotel had a restaurant attached which was reasonably priced with good food. Overall a great experience...Would certainly stay here again..

Booked a 2 night stay first impression was great received code which lets u enter the hotel and your room which was very comfortable left in the morning to enjoy the day returned at 4.00 used the code to enter the hotel but couldn’t get into the room asked the staff in the restaurant for help but they are separate establishment after trying for 10 mins got the guy on the phone he says he would send someone to fix the problem I was to sit in the bar and get a drink on them (which they never paid for) the guy arrived and fixed the code the battery had ran out finished the drink to go up to a room that had no room service or clean towels on the phone again was told u need to request these services (really) so just use the dirty towels for your whole stay the guy met us as we were leaving to go to our restaurant so no shower for us before we went out it is an unmanned hotel with issues that need to be resolved wouldn’t return especially as they don’t clean the rooms unless u ask would return to the restaurant as we had a delicious breakfast on the Saturday morning have been to this hotel before it was unmanned and it was a joy to stay there but won’t return

My son and I drove up to Ayr to visit one of his school friends during the Easter holidays. The decor of the room was nice. The only issue we had with the room that that the heating system was blowing out cold air. Luckily it wasn’t too cold that night. We went for breakfast in the morning down stairs in the restaurant and it was very nice. Lovely decor and service was very friendly.

Had dinner here last night after a lot of hype due to the refurbishment. Decor is beautiful however food is below average for the prices. Prawn tempura was soggy chips were not cooked properly, Asian peanut salad was basically a bag of salad leaves. Chicken Balmoral was dry with tiny amount of sauce. Not impressed with the food at all.

We stayed here for an overnight with our 1 year old. We went for a suite: the room was incredibly fancy and immaculate. We felt this was good value for money. I was unsure of an unmanned hotel and honestly not sure how I feel about it still. I think there’s something comforting about knowing someone is at reception. However, I wouldn’t let this put me off returning. The restaurant was closed but we received a phone call to advise us of this with a recommendation of an alternative nearby. The jacuzzi bath was a hit with the baby and she loved running about the suite. There were two televisions in the suite but neither were smart TVs. We had our laptop for Netflix though, so not a problem. Most people probably wouldn’t be there for the TV we only used it because we were in for the night when the little one went to bed. We enjoyed our stay and would return again.

I booked the suite with the bath tub so i could soak in a nice warm bath before a work night out but when i arrived, the room was freezing cold. There was instructions via the app and in room to turn the heating on. However, all that was coming out of the heating system was cold air. I tried all sorts to get heat coming out but nothing worked. I called the number given to complain and they said they'd send someone out. While i waited i though well at least i can have a hot bath. Not so, as all that came out of the tap was luke warm water at best. The help arrived in the form of a tiny electric air fan heater. The guy that brought it said they had complaints in the past about the heating in that room and also about the water temperature. This wasn't great news to hear since they let me pay for the room knowing this. As i was going on a night out i just had to suck it up since it was too late to book alternative accommodation. The whole experience was a real let down. I had stayed in the kylestrome a couple of times before it was going through the current renovations to the restaurant downstairs and perhaps this was the route of the problem but why sell the rooms if they do not perform to the standard at which they are being sold as? I complained in an email to the company since there is no staff at the hotel as its restaurant is under refurbishment but never received a response. Poorest experience with worse customer care in any hotel i've ever stayed. My advice is look elsewhere.

I had booked the kylestrome because I was attending a wedding. Firstly, it was an unmanned hotel which I wasn't too sure of, but I was willing to give it a go. Then, less than 24hrs before my stay, I was contacted and told that they had to close the hotel due to work being done. I was offered an alternative, but I didn't take it up. In their defence they have agreed to give me 100% refund. Which I think is the least they can do.

The stay was lovely and so cozy. Only things we have to mention about the stay was the plug in the bath was getting stuck we had to use a card to get it out, the toilet roll holder and shower knob loose also. But other than that it was such a lovely stay and we’d 100% be back and recommend to friends already. Fab!!!

Myself and my 12 year old booked a night at the Kylestrome not realising it's unmanned. All was good with the room and entry... she loved the noughties bling and copious mirrors everywhere. This 54 year old didn't enjoy seeing myself reflected everywhere.. especially when showering. Those lights are harsh... but the powerful big shower made up for that. I don't know how I feel about not seeing one other person during our stay. The child was fine with that as she would avoid contact with all humans that aren't her besties. Only thing I had to call service about was to get a WiFi code and Craig sorted that in less than a minute. Restaurant still being refurbished, so no breakfast available. We went to Helen's nearby and it was old fashioned hearty yummy. We had a lovely stay... girlies night. Apart from not seeing a soul, I was also a bit unnerved by the man in the picture in the room who seemed a bit judgemental of our activities.. no idea who he is or what he was doing on our wall... answers by email please?! A special thank you to the Kylestrome for putting us in a room with many shelves in the bathroom... the child especially loved that feature. Going to have to now get a big mirror with glass shelves in our bathroom at home! Would recommend this hotel if you don't mind losing the interactive aspect of a hotel stay.
