A gem of a hotel which we think is completely underrated! Situated smack next to the town central square with the beautiful baroque church of St. Fridolin and nice little restaurants with terraces on one side and the river on the other side. From the hotel restaurant terrace, you have a view over the old wooden bridge to Switzerland, which is illuminated beautifully in the evening. The room we had (top floor, riverside) was big and modern, with a beautiful bathroom. The shower… perfection. Only thing is that the beds are very VERY hard. I needed two toppers to be able to sleep. The mini bar is well stocked with reasonable prices. The cashews laced with Schwarzwalder S*****en taste are addictive. The hotel has a sun deck for the people who have rooms that don’t have a balcony. Perfectly situated in a wind free corner at the back of the hotel. WiFi was obviously fixed, because we had good reception throughout the entire hotel. The staff is great! Very friendly, flawless timing between food courses, perfect balance between a little friendly chat and respectful distance. The food is very good! Very fresh and good ingredients used, and all flavor stands out very well between the modest but well-balanced seasoning, topped off with good to delicious deserts! Good knowledge and advice of the wine and digestives by the serving staff. Breakfast has plenty to choose from and is well made. Ali, Bettina, Isabella, Daniel and all others: Thanks for a perfect stay!
