When we first arrived at this hotel, we were welcomed by a spacious reception area and a very large swimming pool. The property must have been beautiful in its prime, though the room now feels a little tired. There’s a corner with free-flow drinking water, which is convenient.
When I checked in, the receptionist seemed a bit confused and it took some time before we could enter our room—perhaps they were still cleaning since it was around check-in time. When we finally got inside, something didn’t feel right: the floor was wet. Living in Australia, this struck me as unusual given normal safety standards. My 5-year-old son and my sister nearly slipped.
I contacted the receptionist for help to dry the floor or at least send extra floor mats (we booked the King Deluxe room with a jacuzzi, which is quite spacious), but it took about 30 minutes for any assistance. Eventually, I asked a housekeeper nearby to help, but unfortunately, the floor became even wetter. I ended up letting the air conditioner help dry it out.
Because of the dampness, the room began to smell quite moldy. I opened the back door to air it out, but then some mosquitoes came in. Sadly, my son got several bites overnight—his skin is very sensitive—especially around his face, eyes, and hands.
On a positive note, the food was quite good. I especially enjoyed the herbal drinks, and there was a nice variety of dishes. The pool is large and my son absolutely loved it. The hotel also provides a buggy service to the Icon Mall and the beach, and it’s conveniently close to shops and cafés. Overall, it’s a good location for families, though the rooms could use some maintenance.
