Hotel Casa Karina Bansko - Half Board & All Inclusive

To start the hotel is good for the money and located within 5 minute walk of the gondola. The main street is v close so easy access to everything and the old town isn't too far (10min walk). Bansko has loads of places to eat drink and be merry. Plus plethora of supermarkets etc. The restaurant is nice with plenty of space and everything is modern and clean. The staff are a bit hit and miss. Some are friendly and helpful some less so which does make some interactions uncomfortable. If you book direct with the hotel and/or use thier ski equipment and thier ski passes it seems you get a better service than if you go through 3rd party operators. We stayed as a family with 2 young children and our first night the room was awful. Thankfully the manager resolved our issues and moved us to another room the next morning which we couldn't fault. The hotel web site stats fully equipped kitchen but that's not our experience. There is a kettles with cups and a hob/oven depending on your room. However with no cutlery, crockery, pots pans trays or anything at all to prepare or eat food on the kitchen is a bit of an ornament! Meals are buffet style and tasty however for little kids it's a bit fussy so we did struggle with all meals and as a result ate out more than we had wanted. Although room service food (which is extra £) was great. Burgers, chips, spaghetti etc. Drinks not included and as expected is v expensive. They don't like serving tap water as it's free but you do get 2-4 small bottles of water provided daily in the room. The pool and spa could do with a clean and the pool water by the end of the week the chlorine was so high you could feel it when you walked into the pool area. This could be easily rectified by more frequent changes of the water or water chemical maintenance. It was half term so use was heavy.

A very good stay! Definitely recommend it. Close to the gondola and the shops. Staff is very helpful. Very spacious room. Food is very good for half board option. The hotel falicities are pristine.

Hotel was about perfect we received great service which included everything we needed. They serve fantastic food, walking distance from ski lifts , real friendly staff. Would definitely recommend this hotel and ski resort combination. We had a memorable visit here.

The hotel has changed its standard of food. In previous years I would have rated it 9/10 maybe even 10/10. Now I rate it 2/10 May be 3/10. Options are now limited and basic. Previously there was much more variety, which changed every day. There were weekly specials, now off the menu. Soup is only room temperature not hot. Food is room temperature not hot. I did bring this to the notice of the staff and the following evening all soup and food was hot, and for the following evenings the food temperature reverted back to ambient temperature. The lights in my rooms had old fashioned low energy bulbs, so it was dull. I asked for a beside lamp to add some brightness to the bedroom as there was only one light fitting. The bedside lamp arrived with another old fashioned low energy bulb.

We have just returned from a short stay at the hotel all the staff were extremely helpful the food was plentiful and varied. Only the steam roon was open but all working. The roon was spacious and the beds were very comfortable. All inclusive but didn't include soft drinks or mixers but could get juice from machine

How to start? On arrival at 1am in the morning, no help from the hotel reception. Given keys that was all. Got to the room and even though we booked a standard double we were given a 2 bedroom family room, which in any other hotel would have been lovely but here it was abysmal. 1. No TV in bedroom 2. No chairs in either bedrooms 3. No chair in the balcony 4. It had a kitchenette, absolutely no crockery. 5. No AC or fan 6 Dated room 7. Twin beds pulled together. We then complained and were given a double bedroom. Only plus was it had TV in the room which is Netflix enabled. Despite paying for halfboard you will be charged for breakfast again if you ask for room service. I went down to take breakfast back up with me to the room and the waiters shouted at me and physically took the plate off me. Then on one night they had a party in the dining room and hotel guests could not eat seat in to have dinner. We had to ho out to get food. We complained but nothing was done. Avoid the gym, nothing works just old metal equipments. The swimming pool was nice and warm however the sauna and steam room is a lottery, half of the time it is lukewarm and not working. The only nice thing was the massage I got from the masseuse. Will not recommend this hotel at all.

The hotel was clean, modern, comfortable. Great location 2 min walk from gondola and our ski rental shop. Comfy beds, quiet, spacious room, with very warm drying rail for all our ski gear, view of mountains and fridge. Food was ok. The kids loved the buffet. I am not a massive fan or buffets but nobody got ill and it is a treat not to cook for the week!! The maid was so sweet. You can buy your ski pass from reception which is convenient. Kids loved the pool after ski school. It was a little merky the water but I just swam with my mouth closed! Don’t forget your flip flops! Can’t complain for £1100 for a whole week half board it was excellent value.

This is an excellent hotel for its money-central location for everything-5 mins to Gondola, clean and warm rooms-housekeeping every day-we did half board which the food was good(we never expect fine dining in HB-but good varied choice) the only thing I would say is that the breakfast could be a little earlier 7am rather than 7.30am as it leaves very little time to eat before the Gondola opens at 8….but this wouldn’t stop me from staying here again-all in all a very good.
