My daughter forgot her AirPods at the hostel, which she quickly realized on the day of her departure. She then called the hostel and it was confirmed that they had been found. A staff member assured her on the phone that he had safely stored them at the reception awaiting pick up. We then organized a courier service, however, when they arrived a few days later, they were told that no headphones had been found. Several calls and e-mails to the hostel from our part did not help. Neither the person on the phone knew of headphones nor did management give us any report back as requested. All the while, we could still trace the AirPods to the hostel for several days. The headphones were left at the reception. Then they were gone and none of staff seemed to know where they went. Management promised us to check the cameras, yet never got back to us. In conclusion, we are very disappointed about the lack of assistance from the hostel. People forget things in hotels every day and it is not the hotels responsibility to look out for their customers belongings. However, we were confirmed and assured that the airpods had been safely stored awaiting pick up. We also asked who would’ve had access to the reception and were confirmed that access is restricted to the hotels staff. Unfortunately, we can only assume that they were stolen, most-likely by a staff member. So - You should better not leave your belongings at their reception when waiting to check in/out. You should not expect this hostels staff to be honest and genuine in their effort to assist you when things get lost or have been forgotten. We felt gaslit during the entire process of communication and therefore cannot recommend Black Swan Hostel in Barcelona.
