The room was fine, but it had a strong smell of pipes and it is an old room.
Generally very good, the first day I had breakfast but the price outside the room price is too expensive for my experience and taste.

Overall we enjoyed the hotel, it's in a great location. We stayed for a special occasion and had a fantastic time in Barcelona. Check in was quick and arriving in our room we found complimentary champagne which was a lovely touch. The terrace had a private small pool and the bathroom was spacious, the whole room was very clean. Comfortable bed and really nice shower. The hotel provided robes and slippers although they're the same size so if one of you is particularly tall or large feet, they may not fit Some reasons we took off a star for the room: Only one sun lounger and no table and chairs to enjoy meals together on our terrace or sunbathe together - we could see other terraces had two loungers and table/chairs so that was frustrating as we couldn't use the space as we expected (from online photos) There were gaps in the privacy fencing so neighbours would visible peek through while you're in the pool and it was slightly overlooked from other buildings so not as private as you might think The room, was clean and compact but almost too small. Nowhere to put suitcases and not enough storage for two people to unpack everything. The TV in the room next door was very clearly audible from our bathroom The bathroom mirror is the heater - excellent feature to prevent steaming but no option to turn it off so the bathroom could get warm because we had to keep the door closed due the loud TV next door, the air con would have probably balanced the temperature had the door stayed open during the night The pools pump feature turns off too early which was disappointing. The pool water is not heated at all for cooler days or for use in the evenings. Very limited room service menu generally but particularly for anyone with any type of dietary requirements. Same goes for the breakfast menu which, along with having no table or chairs on our terrace to eat it, is why we didn't order it, as €19 each is a lot, but for a vegan guest it is a total waste of money

Regarding the size of the terrace, one of the limitations to build a hotel in a historical building (with the highest degree of protection) is everything must be submitted to the protected parts of the building. And this means there won't be two rooms alike. Next time do not hesitate to ask our Reception team to assign you one of the rooms with two loungers. Regarding the breakfast, if you ask it up in the rooms the offer is limited. But if you come down to our Breakfast Buffet, you will find a wide variety of food. I stayed at the Catalonia Eixample 1864 Hotel. Staff werevery friendly and location was fantastic. There was a very musty smell in my room, since it was raining a lot I assumed that was the smell. The next day when i checked out I had red lumps all over my legs, mirroring bed bug bites. I wrote to the hotel and they denied they had bed bugs. So be very careful as the hotel did not act on this, they have denied any problem. I suggested they should pest control the room but unfortunately they have denied any problem. Be very very careful if you stay here.

And probably anywhere else in the world. And as we already told you, the Company in charge of the pest control came to the hotel and they did not find any bedbug. Here there is a second assumption. As you believe we lied you, you wrote this and some other reviews. Well, let us tell you something. After your e-mail with the pictures attached, we called them again, just in case. And for the second time, they told us there were no bedbugs in the room. So please, have into consideration the possibility that your legs were bitten somewhere else. The location of the hotel is excellent - close to Sagrada Familia, Las Ramblas, the Port and Barri Gothic. The staff are very good. The room was a good size, and the shower was amazing. The cleanliness was good, although my husband got some blood on his sheet and they were not changed at all over 4 nights. Tea/coffee good but not plentiful or replaced if used. The rooftop/pool bar was nice but understaffed at times. The pool was very small but a very nice area. A busy hotel in a quiet, safe area, except for some late night party people. Roger bakery over the road was great. Our Catalonia hotel rewards gift was very welcoming. I’d highly recommend this hotel.

A great hotel with easy and walkable access to most sights worth visiting. The staff were friendly and very helpful, the room comfortable and clean. We had the added bonus of the little plunge pool on the 6th floor. It was a perfect stay for our first trip to Barcelona. A complimentary bottle of champers on arrival for our wedding anniversary was a lovely added touch.

Terrible 1- Hotel has no administration, 2- If hotel air conditioning is not working they don’t take an action. 3- Someone has to control the hotel employees. We arrived hotel at 6.00 PM and we told redemption that air conditioning is not working , he told me , it is working many guest doesn’t know how to use it , when you arrive back we will show you. I told him it is not working, they have to change room or fix it. When we arrived at 9.45 it was not working he gave us a room with air conditioning, with 2 years old and 5 years old kids it was not pleasant to us to change room again. I told them please do not change our room again tomorrow because it is hard to move again . Following day morning they told us they have a family room we have to move , we were upset but we had to move , they told us the room is not ready it will be ready latest at 3.00 pm . Air conditioning is not working , we have to move to an other room. They didnt had a family room they up-grade us , they want to move us a family room on following day but we have to wait 5 hours. 1- Hotel has no administration, 2- It is shame for the Catolina chain hotels. 3- Moving the room again and again and making a family to wait …. Worst Experience ever.

And as we told you, we do not accept anyone to play the racism card. Simply because we have employees from every corner of the world, and we would never ever tolerate ****** attitudes in our hotel. Said this, and as we tried to tell you with no success, the air conditioning in the hotel works either as an air conditioning or as a heating, depending on the weather conditions and the time of the year. That is the reason why, and after your complaint, we moved you to a Deluxe room. These rooms have been recently fully renovated and are the only kind of room with a VRV system. It means you can have both air conditioning and heating system any time of the year. But that was a temporary solution, because that was a double room, and you were two adults and two kids. And you knew that. And that is why you had to move the day after to one to the two family rooms we have. And as you may know, check out time is twelve. Here and everywhere else. And once the previous guest is gone, we must clean the room. That was the reason why the room was ready at three. Let us remind you that check in time is four pm. Now you know why. We are very sorry the hotel did not reach your expectations, but next time it would be nice if you gave us the chance to let you know why we proceed in a certain way instead of blaming our Staff with serious accusations. The room was fantastic and the staff were very helpful and caring. The staff spoke English which made it easy for use to communicate. The location was good and we found it easy to walk to some attractions or to get on public transportation. Highly recommend this place when you visit Barcelona.

Such an excellent hotel! The room is modernised and has brilliant facilities throughout the hotel (i.e. very clean rooftop pool and bar). Had a really comfortable double bed and a cold fridge for personal refreshments. Has supermarkets in fairly close proximity. Really good air conditioning in the room. Found the bathroom facilities extremely good (i.e. had additional extras). Both of us loved every aspect of the hotel! 💕 Only negative is there only seemed to be a handful on restaurants in neighbouring streets (I could have not looked properly!) and it is a 25+ minute stroll to the mains attractions and streets that have popular restaurants. On the other hand, this is nice as you get to see the beautiful architecture and streets in Barcelona!

The hotel is located around a 10 minute walk from the Plaza de Catalunya. We stayed in two double rooms with a shower. Views were to the inner court. The roof-top pool was great. Breakfast was excellent. The elevators were too slow sometimes.

Super location, friendly helpful staff, spacious clean well appointed rooms. AND PET FRIENDLY. room was very well kept, and building felt neat and airy. Although we didn’t get to use bar or restaurant, we could see they looked nice enough.

Extremely Unsafe Property. We were 4 couples who had booked this property for 3 nights, while the hotel location is nice with all major attractions nearby, we encountered a theft of 500 EUROS cash from locker from one of the rooms and the next day all our luggage compromised and locks broken, while we were fortunate enough to not encounter any financial loss. The hotel manager and staff is not cooperative and this seems like a planned activity the whole staff does with the tourists, we reported the matter with the police on 112 however it is a long process and the hotel benefits from it. When we argued with the manager requesting support we were also threatened to be kicked out of the property for being “rude” & that 500 euros is too small an amount for the staff to steal. Would highly recommend to avoid this property in the future.

We stayed as a group of 7. The rooms were good, only one was tired. The hotel lobby is nice and reception staff are very friendly. It’s a shame the hotel bar doesn’t have more tables and chairs and only one outside table. The rooftop pool bar was nice for a quick drink.
