Quite a basic and functional room. Opens to outdoor area. Has indoor and outdoor pools and a fitness room/gym. Amazingly powerful shower and clean high spec hotel common areas. A solid 3 star hotel with free parking as a bonus for this area.

Barney hotel Starter. Okay, not enough bread with the chicken pate, just two bread sticks however Pate was nice. Cocktails are good, I’ve enjoyed the espresso martini. I’m excited for the mains as I don’t usually have haddock. I also want to say that the bread and butter pre-starter is also very enjoyable and many of us indulged

Pros: The staff were all very welcoming, friendly and helpful during our stay. We enjoyed using the pool and sauna at night when it was quieter. The reception, lobby and corridors looked modern and clean. Cons: The bedroom was much smaller than it appeared in photos and the bed was quite close to the door, which meant we were very aware of other guests coming and going all hours (a parent let their child stand directly outside our room having a screaming tantrum when we were trying to relax in the evening after a long day of travelling - not ideal!). The room could have been cleaned to a better standard (cobwebs coming from ceiling and tea stain running down bedside table). Some minor maintenance work needed too (e.g carpet and headboard looked discoloured, and paint chipped furniture).

It's what a hotel should be. I always look forward to staying here. Proper service. Excellent breakfast. Comfortable, well-appointed rooms. Good facilities. Near some of the best scenery in the world.

This hotel never fails to impress! There is ample parking, walking distance into town. The rooms are clean comfortable and bright. Food is delicious and the staff are so helpful.The swimming pool is warm and all facilities clean and if a high standard. We will be back!

Hotel was great, room clean and staff very obliging. Health centre amenities great and very clean. Hotel positioned just a ten minute walk to Barnstaple town centre. Good position to visit what North Devon has to offer. Would stay again.

Very enjoyable break, excellent service and very friendly staff, lunch was delicious and lovely choice of sandwiches, evening meal was amazing. Can’t fault anything about our stay. Excellent value for money and will definitely book again.

We attended an organised ball with in excess of 150 people attending. The quality of the evening meal and table service was first class with both plates and food hot! We had a very comfortable room and excellent breakfast

We have stayed here several times now as a base for our garden walking short break, the staff are friendly and attentive the food excellent and the indoor pool is so warm, our twin garden room was a great size and well thought out, shower was excellent and we both slept really well
