This place is absolutely disgusting how it can be advertised as being a hotel is totally beyond me., it’s more like a homeless shelter. The carpets are threadbare of the stairs and dangerous, there is no lift, no facility’s for families to sit at night as there was a huge sign on the door saying over 18 only. Having to walk round the corner for breakfast to the other hotel, is that suitable for a family of five youngest being 4 years old.? I am absolutely gob smacked these are allowed to be advertising on reputable websites. Who monitors this ? There was no point complaining to the young man on reception as he was so nervous when we checked in it’s like he knew. The rooms were absolutely boiling and couldn’t open the windows as they were a sash window with no way of keeping them open apart from using the huge impractical wood block they give you for a key. Had to keep all three children away from the windows in case it fell through and we had lost fingers. The pictures of the hotel are definitely not that hotel. We were in the Lake District for a couple of days and due to everyone having ‘staycations’ everywhere was booked up so I knew it wouldn’t be 100% but I expected more than that the room had an over powering smell of smoke in the room and it was awful made me feel sick. I had two of my elder girls sleeping in another room I asked for next door but they ended up three doors down which may seem fine but it wasn’t and they were petrified going to bed. My eldest described it as something out of the shining. We have been charged £134 for one night in this stink hole. I am determined to get a refund

We specifically requested pram/wheelchair access. Despite communications back and forth with the hotel before our arrival, and reassurances of welcoming children under 5 (a cot was offered, but we declined), they failed to mention that the hotel has no lift, and the first floor is up 3 flights of stairs. Not what I would consider accessible! I have a disability and stairs are often difficult, though luckily I am able to walk without use of a wheelchair. However, each time we were coming in and out of the hotel, we had to wake our baby for me to struggle carrying her up and down stairs whilst my partner carried the pram. Staff were lovely about it and offered assistance to carry the pram and our luggage, but it really wasn't ideal, especially considering we had emailed ahead and asked more than once about accessibility. The room itself was fine, but the layout of the bathroom was not good. The huge sink was not appropriate for the size of the bathroom, making it difficult for even an everage-sized person to stand and wash. It was so oversized and badly positioned that it blocked access to the rest of the bathroom, so squeezing past to the toilet did not even feel safe, never mind manoeuvring into and out of the bath, with a baby no less, which was almost impossible to do safely. I was lucky to be having a good week with my health, as had my condition been in the midst of a flare, we would not have been able to stay here. In addition, when housekeeping removed our rubbish, no new bags were left, meaning we had nowhere to put any rubbish, including dirty nappies. The room was also very noisy, both from rowdy pubs nearby and noisy guests above who were stomping about above us all hours of the night, which kept waking the baby. Sounded like there was a large group of elephants up there!

Stayed here 2 nights. And although 1 of the members of staff was lovely and chatty cant say the same for the others. The whole place looks run down and in need of tlc.. my room was small and in need of a paint job at very least. Window frames in dire state and 1 window been held in place with a pizza box jammed in. Dust and dirt everywhere, coffee stains on 'clean ' cups. Long black hairs in Bath and on bathroom floor. And the toilet I had to prop my legs over the bath to be able to sit on it. Why design a bathroom this way iam only short so if taller people had been in there I feel so sorry for them. Bed not very comfy. And no realsturant open there however judging by state of room probely a good thing. All in all would not stay again and would definitely tell others to avoid

My room was on the 3rd floor and with no lift that was a major issue for me. Maybe they should inform potential guests in advance. Check-in was friendly and efficient - the staff seemed keen to help. There was no onsite bar or restaurant when I visited. The room appeared recently decorated and fairly clean but the mattress felt like a sack of boulders. I woke to no electricity in the room so I had no kettle for a brew no tv to watch and nowhere to charge my phone. (I noticed the fascia of one of the mains sockets in the room was broken). After calling a distant call centre, a member of staff came to the room but could not resolve the issue. I went to a sister hotel for breakfast. The breakfast was good value with regard to choice, quantity, and quality with excellent service. My day had started badly and the server was helpful, friendly, efficient and great all round - exceptionally good!

Worst “Hotel” I have ever been to! Don’t spend your money on this falling apart place! None of the advertised is available as well. Paid for nights but left after the second one. They refund me £0.86 for the inconvenience. Not enough car park spaces available. There is not a restaurant/ bar as well as advertised! Absolute waste of time and money!!!

Very friendly staff , but disappointed that the restaurant was closed for renovation( not informed before hand ) and rooms need renovation (or painting at least ) .

I thought I was entering a 1970’s B&B. The entrance was extremely shabby and off putting. A bit creepy. No lift available. Staircase carpet very thread bare and shabby. Bath, toilet and sink were sparkling clean. Tiles round bath seemed new. Bedsheets we’re clean. Pillows had slight sweat stains on them when I looked under the pillow slip. Hence why I travel with my own pillow. Decor was really shabby. Stains on ceiling tiles, carpets and divan part of bed. Paint peeling off radiator. I get the feeling it’s a work in progress. Or I hope it’s a work in progress. It has potential. It’s suitable for a one night stay. I’d consider it again if I had no choices.

The receptionist could not find our room bookings even when I spoke to her over the phone and has promised to me that rooms were all sorted before arrival. As I gave her our booking id she couldn’t find the other two rooms. We were blessed that Craig was there to sort it all out for us and that we did not have to move rooms or worst to move to another hotel. The room was boiling hot when we went in there was no fan inside and as we open the windows we can smell car fumes coming from outside. Dirty curtains, dated furniture and carpet was dirty the bathroom was clean but the glass shield does not help the water going into the floor.
