Macdonald Bath Spa Hotel

It was a truly magical experience! Felt like I was living a fairytale! Amaziing hotel, amazing staff! I am definitely going back soon!

The hotel covers a large area and is well worth a walk. The hot spring and swimming pool are not big

It was an amazing experience, I love the hotel, the staff was lovely and the garden is just beautiful. I will definitely back.

Sold as a 5 star hotel and although it did look good from the outside,the inside was very dated and lacking tlc.the bathroom had what looked like black mould around the wall furniture and the sink had been covered in a wrap which was torn and some of the metal fixtures where corroded.the breakfast took over an hour as they seemed to take precedents over vips in the dining room who got food very quickly.from sitting down to receiving our breakfast took an hour both days.the staff where very apologetic but that does t make up for poor service and the quality was average.The Spa was also dated and the Gym was small with very little in it for a proper workout.

Actually it is an amazing hotel, but it really needs updating as the curtains fabric was literally tearing apart. However, the location and grounds are amazing, lots of greenery, quiet and not far from the centre. We were upgraded to a better room which was really thoughtful. Like the outdoor swimming pool, even though it need updating as well. Staff is really friendly.

Arrived at hotel no welcome from Reception , given room took our own luggage to room. Only good service was at breakfast apart from that staff not good. Positives Spa great and was hotel grounds. I have stayed in hotels all over the world and never have I received 5* treatment as low as this anywhere.

******, Deceptive Advertising, and Poor Service I had an extremely disappointing stay at this hotel and would not recommend it to anyone. First of all, there was clear racial bias from the front desk staff, especially Katie. She was cold and indifferent towards Asian guests, while noticeably more attentive to white guests. This kind of behavior is unacceptable and shows a serious need for staff retraining. Secondly, be aware that if you book a room for £200, you will get a basement. They deceptively label the basement level as “Garden Level,” tricking guests into thinking they’ll have a view of a garden. In reality, it’s a near-windowless basement. This kind of wordplay is a disgraceful marketing tactic and deeply dishonest. The photos used to advertise the hotel are also misleading. For example, what looks like a double bed is actually two singles pushed together, creating an uncomfortable gap in the middle. The "garden view" they promise simply doesn’t exist for guests, and when you ask to change rooms, you’ll be told they are fully booked—with no compensation or alternatives offered. If you're planning to spend £200 for a manor-style spa hotel in Bath, this is absolutely not the place to stay. What you’ll get is a basement room that doesn’t even compare to hotels in central London.

The hotel is an incredible building which must take some maintenance. We booked a double room for one night and arrived at lunchtime with the intention of sightseeing in bath for a couple of days. The hotel was happy for us to park all day both days which was great. The check in process (after 3pm) was very easy and we had a very clean room with plenty of towels, 2 robes and slippers for the spa/pool. The double room had a king size bed which was very comfortable. The hotel pool was crowded and looking a little tired but was as expected. The outside heated pool was very nice and relaxing. We didn’t have any spa treatments or use the gym but both looked well kept and the gym had good modern equipment. We didn’t eat in the restaurant preferring to find a restaurant in bath itself. Breakfast was a bit of a chaotic affair with several hotel staff doing various jobs with no apparent coordination. The wait for a table, then coffee was long and then we had to wait again to order breakfast. The whole process of breakfast took well over an hour which is poor. It was clear that there was no clear process as some tables were getting their cooked breakfast before us even though we were taken to our table 30 mins before them. The little waiter man with his paper pad was a bit useless. When the ‘full English’ breakfast came it was a small plate of well cooked food but not really as described in the menu. In terms of portion size it was more like a kids breakfast. We weren’t served any toast either and had to ask for it unlike other tables who received it with their drinks order which seemed a bit weird. The continental buffet was a bit scarce with no bowls or spoons so we had to use our fruit juice glasses for the yogurt and fruit. The whole thing could be improved with a breakfast buffet under a hot plate if they haven’t got enough staff to serve it.
