Portsea Place

Perfectly situated a short walk from Salamanca, this charming little place was perfect. Small - yes, but comfortable. Staff were very welcoming and helpful. The ability to park your car behind the accommodation was terrific as parking in such a prime location could otherwise be a bit tricky.

On the basis that you get what you pay for, we didn’t pay much, which was $280 for two nights. We tried to either cancel or change the booking two days out due to illness and despite the best attempts of the third party booking platform they were unable to get approval for either, from the accommodation manager. I tried to directly message him 4 times on the day of check in and got no response whatsoever. Nothing. So we went ahead with the short stay rather than lose 100% of the booking fee. The place is ok. It was empty I think when we were there but we still ended up in a room facing directly onto the street. The bed was ok. The heat pump over the bed warmed the room quickly. It was ok. It was basic. Clean enough. Not brilliant and not appalling but the lack of any response to multiple attempts to contact management left a sour taste. I’d book a hotel in town next time which has some sort of options to either rebook or get a refund if something g goes wrong two days out.
