One of the biggest highlights was the huge room we stayed in—it was incredibly spacious, making it perfect for the family, and remarkably clean from top to bottom. The food at the on-site restaurant was delicious; we particularly loved the Ikan siakap tiga rasa, which is a must-try for anyone visiting. After our meal, we spent a relaxing afternoon by the swimming pool, which was clean and well-maintained, providing a great escape from the Penang heat. The location is also unbeatable for sightseeing. It is located very near to the Aquarium Tunku Abdul Rahman (Fisheries Department Research Institute), which made our morning outing so convenient. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a comfortable stay with excellent local flavors and easy access to nearby attractions!"

I stayed at PEN Mutiara Hotel in Penang for 3 nights and sadly, the experience was disappointing. • The hotel as a whole feels run down and poorly maintained. • I asked about upgrading my room and was told no rooms were available. Yet, I was first given a room without a proper window, which felt unsafe and uncomfortable. • To my surprise, after complaining, I was moved to a bigger room even though earlier they insisted no larger rooms were available. • My originally assigned room had also been released to another guest, which didn’t feel professional. • The receptionists were unfriendly both before and after my complaint, which left a poor impression. The only positive part of my stay was the friendly and hardworking housekeeping staff. Overall, this hotel needs significant improvements both in its facilities and in the professionalism of its front desk service

I have to say, it was a pretty decent experience overall. The best part for me was definitely the staff—they were all super friendly and went out of their way to be helpful. My room was clean and comfortable, and it felt pretty spacious, which was a nice surprise. The location was also really convenient for getting around to see the sights. On the flip side, you could tell the hotel has been around for a while. The decor and some of the amenities, like the swimming pool, felt a bit old. My air conditioner was a little noisy, but it still did the job. Overall, it's a solid choice if you're looking for a good value stay without expecting all the latest and greatest features.

The hotel has an old concept and feels quite outdated. The carpet in the corridor was dirty and not well maintained. The layout and direction to the reception were confusing and not user-friendly. I stayed in a newly renovated room, which was acceptable, however the walk to the room was unpleasant due to the bad smell in the corridor and the dirty carpet. Overall, the experience was not very comfortable.

The staff is helpful here, however the location is a little deserted, even though there is a food court nearby, but is very limited choice, lobby have no air conditioning, price is kinda high despite the location is very far from the cities

We have to wait almost 30 mins to checkin . Please improve service front desk @ reception .

Only thing missing was breakfast... Will come back again for breakfast.

The room is not clean and the air conditioner is very old, the noise very loud even switch to quiet mode

A short stay, the hotel is still under renovation..broken lamp & exhaust fan in the bathroom....room is spacious but unfortunately no view...staff at receptionist need to improve a lot...no towel provided at pool area, soo funny...
